ARABELLA'S PHONE WAS RINGING, it had been ringing for the past five minutes but she could not bring herself to answer it. it was her sister, probably calling to talk to her about cameron. she didn't want to talk to emma about him, she didn't want to talk about him with anybody. it was good that it was a saturday, because she knew she couldn't possible shoot on this day.
it had been a tradition on 27th of may since she had known cameron, they'd spend the day before his birthday together. since his passing, she spent the day alone. usually at home or in bed, she gave that time for herself to grieve.
her family and camila where the only ones who knew what she did on the day. she just didn't do anything, she just sat and stared at the wall, ate pizza or ice cream or watched jessie. it was a day to just not do anything and think of cameron. before he passed away, they'd do all sort of crazy stuff on this day, and arabella would look at all the pictures and videos of him she had in her gallery. he was one of her best of her best friends, he was basically her everything.
since 2020, emma called her everyday on the day, to show that she was there for her. she called ten times on every twenty-seventh may and arabella never picked up.
arabella was under the blanket, wearing a black bralette and white shorts, with a large hoodie on top. the television played the third season of jessie, there was a box of ice cream next to her, a spoon in her mouth, there was a box of tissues kept on her chest and she was sure that her mascara was a mess. so much for getting ready and going back to bed.
there was a rhythmic knock on the door, "go away," and the person knocked again after a few seconds. arabella groaned and got out of the blanket, nearly falling off the bed as she clumsily put her slippers on. she groaned again before answering the door, not bothering to look in the peephole.
she opened the door to see drew standing with one of his hands inside the pockets of his sweatpants, there was a smile plastered on his face. the second held a box of pizza like a plate, "i bought a large by mistake," he looked her up and down, "and everybody's gone out for lunch."
she nodded, her body had put all her weight on the door. "are you okay?" he asked, coming inside the room. he kept the box of pizza on the bed before closing door for her as she dragged herself back to bed. "not answering a question is rude, bella." she groaned and let herself fall back on the bed.
"i'm fine," her voice muffled because her face was buried in the sheets. "your mascara might get on the sheet," he turned her around on her back before putting the box of tissues and the box of ice cream on the nightstand. "come on," he kicked his shoes off before sitting next to her lying body, "tell me what happened," she sat up with her legs crossed.
"nothing," she mumbled, grabbing a make up wipe from the nightstand to take her mascara off. he took the wipe from her, she reached her hand out to grab it but he leaned back further. "drew, give it back." her tone was tired but serious, she scratched the back of her ear. "first, you have to tell me what happened," he said, and the next thing he saw were tears pooling into her eyes.
her bottom lip quivered, and she started to cry. he dropped the wet wipe somewhere, holding her hands as she started to cover her face. she tried to get him to let go of her hand, but he didn't. "drew, don't do this. please," there were loud sobs in between of the words. he shifted closer to her, to the point where their knees were touching each other.
