3. The Sage Coven

Syndra looked at her mother who was rather quiet on their journey home. Ever since Madame Sage had come to retrieve her from Queen Vera's library the coven leader seemed to be deep in thought.

"Approaching the manor now," Erik Sage said while glancing in the rear view mirror, his aunt and cousin were awfully hush-hush tonight. Usually when his aunt and Syndra were together one of them would always be droning on and on about how the other was in the wrong. Syndra wanted to stay in the mortal world after her birthday and Madame Sage wanted her in Riddan as soon as possible.

The car lurched over the hilltop steadily just as the silver moon emerged from behind the clouds.

Two large oak trees filled the barren scenery, their branches stretched so high they had begun to intertwine together. Beyond the trees was a small one story cottage that looked empty and desolate. As Erik drove the car through the opening the tree's created all three of the Sage's spoke in unison:

"Revelare."

Syndra felt the tingle of the spell through her body as the car drove closer to the cottage. The veil concealing their home vanished and the shabby cottage faded into a large brick three story estate surrounded by willows, rowans, and cedar trees.

"Looks like everyone's still up waiting for you." Erik said judging by the looks of the fully lit home. The car came to a stop and Madame Sage exited followed by Syndra.

"For now my dear I'll be sending you off." Madame Sage murmured to her daughter.

Syndra's brows lifted up in surprise, usually when she was in Riddan her mother would use any excuse to prolong her stay.

"But the other's I should at least say hello," Syndra said.

"I'll tell them you were tired," Madame Sage ran her hands down Syndra's arms. "Next time I'll notify you myself before summoning you."

Syndra smiled then nodded.

Madame Sage closed her eyes and lifted her palm towards Syndra.

"Ad terram revertis.
