I wake up Tuesday morning to the sound of the warning bell, telling us we have 2 hours before breakfast. I roll over and look at Bethany and Jewoul. Bethany nods, indicating that I can use the bathroom first. Jewoul is still snoring away on the top bunk. I crawl out of bed, still half asleep and slide my feet into my fav panda slippers that I brought from home. I grab my towel and slip into the bathroom for a quick pick-me-up shower. Brush my teeth, comb my shoulder-length brown, depressingly curly hair out, and end up sticking it in a messy bun. Don't get me wrong, I love my hair, most of the time, sometimes it gets annoying. And my mother wouldn't let me get it straightened at my hair appointment before I left home. I hang my damp towel on the drying rack in the corner of the room and tell Bethany that she can have the bathroom.
Walking over to my closet, I see that Jewoul is still fast asleep. I abandon my hunt for clothes and traipse over to her side of the room. I stand on my tip toes, barely reaching her ear with my measly 5 ft 3 in, and say, "Jewoul, you gotta wake up. Breakfast and classes are in an hour and a half." Nothing. Boy, can she snore though. Changing tactics, I yell her name and shake her shoulder. Now I've got her attention.
"What can you possibly want this early in the morning? It's only 6:30! I never wake up unless it's after 8," she yells at me. I stare at her, and she rolls over and puts her pillow over her head. I give it up as a lost cause. Lots of newbies act this way. I remember one girl missed first and second period two years ago when she refused to get up before 10:30 and she barely made it to lunch. I figure I can get ready, Bethany can give it a try and otherwise she'll just have to go to class in her pajamas; which would be interesting, since her pajamas are Hello Kitty.
Going back to my closet, I pull out my fav sweatshirt that I got from Yale last year at a MUN conference we went to. I plan on going to Yale so I might as well wear the spirit now. Then I grab my long-sleeve WL Prep Track shirt, slide on my destroyed flares, and finally I slip into my fav pair of tall baby blue UGGs. Seeing as how northern Ohio gets pretty snowy and cold, I want to be warm when I run between classes today.
Bethany comes out of the bathroom as I'm checking myself out in the full length mirror on the back of the door, "You're lookin' good," she says.
"Not only good, but warm and comfy," I say with a laugh. I point to Jewoul and tell Bethany about her blow-up earlier.
"I'll try to wake her up after I get dressed. After all, it's not our problem if she never gets up. Isn't it in the information that they send you that you have to get up early?" Bethany questions. I nod. I don't even know how I remember, seeing as how I haven't gotten the aforementioned packet of information since my first year here. I wish Bethany good luck on her mission, grab my brand new purse, and head out to the common room to see if Holly or Parker is ready to head to breakfast.
I head to Parker's room because she is on the way to the common room and I actually know her room number. Holly just told me that she is on the top floor so I figure she'll just go to Parker's room when she's ready.
As I step into floor one's hallway from the down staircase corridor, I hear screaming. Shoot, I think, I know that scream. It's the evil of evils, Amee. I walk towards the shared bathroom that is the only downside of the first floor. When I open the door the screaming gets almost unbearable.
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING??????????" screams Amee at what appears to be a newbie.
"THIS IS MY BATHROOM TIME! NO ONE IS ALLOWED IN HERE BETWEEN 7 AND 8!!!!!!!!!!"
"I'm ss- so-so-sorry. I didn't realize, I'll just leave now..." the newbie turns to run out and sees me standing there. She gives me a look like I need to leave, but I don't. I walk all the way into the room and right up to Amee.
