Years. It has been years since Sam and Colby have been friends. They have been each other's number one, ride or die, for so long, they aren't sure what life could ever be like without the other. Truth be told, they didn't care to dwell on those thoughts either.

Sam just wanted Colby by his side forever, no matter what. He didn't care what happened to him, as long as he had Colby there to help him though he'd be ok. He lived and breathed their little motto: "Sam and Colby vs. The World", and he intended to keep that motto running. Sam's feelings ran deeper than friendship, deeper than the so-called "brotherhood" they shared. Sam needed Colby in any way a person could need someone else. Colby was his happiness, his lifeline, his confidant, his everything; he only hoped he could be that for Colby too.

Colby had so many friends, so, so many, that Sam almost couldn't keep up; almost. Sam kept track of everything, so when Colby talked about who he hung out with, he would know and remember. That's why when Brennen and Colby hung out a lot, Sam always knew, and he would always wait for Colby to get home, no matter how late, just in case Colby needed him. Sam wanted to be Colby's number one, he wanted the reassurance of being his number one.

As time went on, Colby started to get closer to his other friends, which is totally fine, if you were to ask Sam. In fact, it's great Colby hangs out with his friends! It's great Colby goes to Brennen with things, like pranking the house, or when an issue arises. It's fantastic, and Sam isn't jealous at all. Nope.

"Hey, bro, you ok?" Colby asked Sam, who had zoned out when Colby told him he was going to Brennen's to film a few different videos.

"Hm? Yeah, why?" Sam responded, suddenly being brought back to the real world.

"I was asking if you wanted to be in one of the videos too."

"Oh shit, yeah sorry. That sounds good. What video do you want me there for?"

"Bestfriend vs. Bestfriend Challenge."

Something about that stung. It cut Sam through to the bone. His heart stopped. He felt sick. Best friend him, and best friend Brennen? That hurt. Colby was his only best friend, why wasn't he Colby's only best friend?

"Sure sounds good. When are you planning on filming that one?" Sam asked, trying so hard to not let his inner turmoil show.

"Uhhh, I think tomorrow is when Brennen can come over, but I'll ask him later when I see him."

"Alright sounds good."

"Cool. I'll see you later." Colby says, as he starts to walk to the front door.

"See you." Sam replies.

Sam was not about to lose whatever challenge Colby had planned. It was most likely a 'who knows me better' type of video, so Sam started doing what every completely sane, jealous friend would do, and just started trying to remember every random fact about Colby that he could. He wrote each thing down in his phone, and kept reading over each thing he could think of. All he knew was that he would prove to Colby who his real best friend was.

Day of filming the video, all Sam could think of was Colby. His brain was consumed by Colby. All the random facts he could think of, all their shared memories since high school, helping each other gain confidence, starting social media, moving out to LA, moving into the house they're in now, everything. He had spent the entire night before preparing to beat Brennen in this video, and his brain was entirely consumed by Colby. Sam, sometime in the past 13 hours he had been thinking about nothing but Colby, had come to a realization; he wasn't just jealous out of wanting to be Colby's number one best friend, but he wanted more with Colby. He had feelings for Colby. Which is why when Colby told Brennen to move over at the start of their filming, he felt his face get hot. Sam decided to be bold.
