Too Close

Sam, Colby, Corey, and Elton finally arrived in New Zealand. Sam, Colby, and Corey were only staying for the first couple of weeks, while Elton would stay longer. The three of them knew nothing about what Elton had planned, including where they would be staying, and what they would be doing. It didn't take long for them to figure out that Elton was not planning a leisure trip for them, because almost right out of the airport they were standing outside and Elton was telling them they were going to jump off a building. Corey was not happy about that. It took some convincing, but eventually, all four of them jumped. As if it couldn't have gotten worse, immediately after that, they were heading over to Harbor Bridge, which they would be jumping off of, hitting the water below. Corey, even with the promise of ice cream after, would not jump off. It was after that Sam decided to ask about where they would be staying.

"Oh I didn't tell you guys? We're getting a motor home, and we will be going all over New Zealand." Elton responded.

Group consensus was excitement, however when they actually went to get the motor home, attitudes changed. They went in and Elton went to put all of his camera gear on the one and only bed in the whole place.

"Yo Elton. Is this some kind of joke?" Colby asked, clearly confused by the small space.

"Nope. The table turns into a bed..."

"DIBS! I am calling dibs on the table bed." Corey yelled before Elton could finished, and he put his stuff on the table.

"There's another bed up there." He said, pointing to the dark space above where the drivers and passenger seats were.

"Wait, you're saying Colby and I are both sleeping up there? Together? Dude, we're not gonna fit!" Sam protested. He liked Colby, they were best friends, but he also liked his space.

"You'll fit! There's more space there than you think, and you guys can rotate out who gets the couch and who is sleeping up there." Elton explained.

"Oh hell no! I am not sharing my table!" Corey interjected.

"It's fine dude. We'll make it work." Colby said, tossing his bag up in the dark space that would be his and Sam's bed.

Sam copied his actions, and threw his stuff up there too.

"Why don't you have to share with anyone?" Sam asked Elton.

"Because I'm the only who knows how to drive here. So, since I'm driving your asses everywhere, I get a bed to myself, and it's where I'm keeping all the cameras, go-pros, lenses, everything." He responded, and everyone agreed that it was fair.

"Ok, but the real question is, what are we doing for dinner, I'm hungry." Corey changed the conversation, now that they had the sleeping situations figured out.

"There's a KFC right there." Colby pointed out.

Corey laughed and said, "we're in New Zealand, and you want KFC? We can get that at home!"

"I don't care, KFC is good." Colby retorted.

"KFC is fine with me." Sam agreed.

And so, the four went across the parking lot to the KFC, and brought it back to the RV to eat. As they were sitting and talking, Sam, Colby, and Corey trying to get answers out of Elton about things they were going to do, and him not giving any indication about what was to come, they all started to get tired. They got ready for bed, and figured out how to turn the table into Corey's bed. That totally didn't take them 45 minutes. Sam jumped up into the loft first, and moved all the way to the back wall. Colby then climbed up as well, and laid down.

It was some point in the night when Sam felt Colby roll over and settled almost on top of him. He froze for a minute, sure, they've shared beds before, and have had this situation before, but now there were two other people here too. Corey and Elton were both right there, they could hear them, see them. Normally, when something like this happened when he and Colby shared a bed, he would just leave it and go back to sleep. However, now, he felt he had to move Colby away. He tried to nudge Colby off, roll him over, nothing worked.
