Y/N entered the police department, the glass door swinging shut behind her as she adjusted her jacket. The bustling sounds of officers and junior colleagues filled the air, though they all paused briefly to give her polite bows or nods of acknowledgment. She returned the gesture with a small nod, her mind already running through the list of tasks she needed to tackle for the day.Reaching her desk, Y/N sat down and scanned the stack of paperwork in front of her. The recent surge in unusual cases had left the department on edge—more missing person reports, strange deaths, and unexplained occurrences all pointing toward something bigger, something darker.
Her eyes fell on a particular file, the bold letters "Is Jordan Hospital Hiding Something?" printed across the top of the document. She raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
Just as she was about to take a sip from her coffee, she felt a light tap on her right shoulder. Turning, she found herself face-to-face with the new intern—a young man with light brown hair, dark grey eyes that seemed a little too sharp for someone so nervous, and a small mole under his left eye. He smiled nervously, clearly uneasy in her presence.
"New intern?" Y/N asked, raising an eyebrow.
He nodded quickly, the nervous smile widening. "Y-Yes, ma'am. The chief... uh, he called for you."
Y/N exhaled slowly, her interest in the paper momentarily shifting to the intern. She put the file down on her desk, causing him to flinch slightly as the papers settled in front of him.
"Hold onto this for me," she said, her tone neutral. "I'll deal with it later."
The intern nodded again, his gaze flicking from her to the paper and back, as if he wasn’t sure if he should be relieved or more worried. Without another word, Y/N stood up and made her way to the chief’s office.

There was a knock on the door, and the chief said, “Come in.”
Y/N opened the door, stepped inside, and closed it behind her. The chief sat in his chair with a file report in his hand. When he saw her, he placed the report on the desk in front of her.
"What do you think about this?" he asked, gesturing toward the file.
Y/N took the file and opened it, immediately noticing the same headline she had seen earlier: "Is Jordan Hospital Hiding Something?" She turned the page, scanning through the report made based on complaints from patients’ families. Several claimed that the hospital food was contaminated, while others believed there was something wrong with the treatments. According to the report, patients were discharged in seemingly perfect condition. However, a week or so later, they began experiencing vomiting and fainting.
Y/N closed the file and looked at the chief, her expression serious.
The chief spoke, "It seems like a hospital food contamination issue, as some people have been saying, but—"
Y/N cut him off, her tone sharp. "Why after a week?"
The chief hummed thoughtfully and nodded at her insight. "Exactly. I want you to go there with your team and conduct an investigation. Try to find out if there’s more to this than just food contamination."
Y/N nodded her head and responded, "Yes, sir."
Before she could leave, the chief called out to her. She stopped and turned to face him.
"Take that new intern, Hiro, with you," the chief added.
Y/N raised her eyebrows. "The brown-haired guy?"
The chief chuckled and nodded. "Yes."
Y/N shrugged, “Alright,” and then left the office.
Once Y/N was gone, the chief glanced at the photo frame on his desk. It was an old photo of him as a young man, standing beside a man with (h/c) hair, who had his arm around the chief’s shoulder. The chief picked up the frame and smiled at the image of the (e/c) man.
"You’d be so proud of her if you were here," he murmured quietly, a hint of sadness in his voice as he gazed at the photo.

When Y/N stepped out of the chief’s office, she headed towards a nearby window, pulling her phone from her pocket. She dialed quickly and pressed the phone to her ear.
"Hellloooo, baby!" Mina's playful voice greeted on the other end.
"Hey, Mina. How’re you doing?" Y/N asked, leaning casually against the window.
"Come on, babe. I’m doing good. You know me!" Mina responded with a laugh.
Y/N smiled at her friend’s energy. "I need a favor. Can you pick up my brother from school today? I’ll be stuck at work late."
Mina didn’t hesitate for a second. "Yeah, sure! Why not? You know I’ve got your back."
"Thanks, Mina. You’re a lifesaver," Y/N said, her voice full of gratitude.
"Anything for you, babe. Luv u sweetheart" Mina said.
Y/N chuckled. "love you too."
After they said their goodbyes, Y/N hung up and glanced at her phone wallpaper, a picture of her younger brother, his wide smile lighting up the screen. She traced her finger gently over his face, a soft smile forming on her own. For a moment, the chaos of her job faded away.
"Boo!"
Suddenly, a pair of hands landed on her shoulders, trying to startle her, but Y/N didn’t even flinch. She turned around slowly, arms folded across her chest, and raised an unimpressed eyebrow at Kaminari.
Kaminari yelped as Jiro, standing beside him, delivered a sharp slap to the back of his head. "Behave yourself! Y/N’s our superior," Jiro scolded.
"Ow!" Kaminari whined, rubbing the back of his head. "Yeah, but she’s also our friend!"
"Still!" Jiro insisted.
Y/N shook her head with a chuckle. "You two are something else. Come on, we’ve got work to do."
As the three of them started walking, Kaminari perked up. "Oh really? What do we got this time?"
Y/N’s tone shifted slightly as they moved down the hallway. "We’ve got to investigate a place."
"Oh, great," Kaminari said, trying to mask the excitement in his voice.
Jiro leaned in slightly, intrigued. "Interesting"
"And we’ve got one more addition to the mission," Y/N said, a hint of amusement in her voice.
"Who?" Jiro asked, following Y/N’s gaze.
Y/N stopped beside her desk and pointed toward the new intern, Hiro, who was hunched over a stack of papers, clearly absorbed in his task.
Hiro, sensing their presence, looked up from the file. The moment his eyes met Y/N’s, he stood up so fast he nearly knocked over the papers on the desk. He looked nervous again, but eager.
"Get ready, Hiro," Y/N said, her voice steady but with a slight smirk. "It’s time for your first mission."
Hiro’s eyes widened, and he nodded, trying to keep his composure. "Yes, ma’am!"
