Y/N quietly opened her brother's door, seeing him sitting on the edge of his bed, his small frame outlined against the dim light from the window. He was facing away, looking out at the darkened street, a little lost in thought.

She took a slow, steady breath and walked over, wrapping her arms around him in a gentle hug.

“I'm sorry, Cupcake,” she whispered softly. “Today was a busy day… You must have missed me, huh?”

Her brother nodded, and she felt him lean into her warmth, seeking comfort. Smiling, she placed a gentle kiss on his head. After a moment, she knelt in front of him, cupping his small hands in hers as he looked at her with a mixture of curiosity and worry.

“Listen closely, okay?” she said, her tone serious but soft. He nodded, a flicker of concern crossing his innocent face.

She took a deep breath, steadying herself. “There’s… something happening out there. There’s a virus going around, and the people it infects… they lose control. They start hurting others, biting them—even… eating them.” She watched his eyes widen in disbelief.

“W-What?” he whispered, his voice barely audible.

Y/N nodded solemnly. “I know it sounds unbelievable. But it’s real, Cupcake. I saw it myself tonight. I… I had to shoot one of them. Twice. And even then… she didn’t stop. The only way to stop her was by… hitting her on the head.”

Her brother’s eyes went even wider, and he swallowed hard, gripping her hands a little tighter. “So… that’s the only way to stop them?”

“Yes. The head,” she confirmed, her voice steady.

She didn’t want to scare him, but he needed to know the truth. “I don’t mean to frighten you, but you deserve to know everything. I want you to be brave if it ever comes to that. Things… won’t be the same anymore. But you don’t need to worry about facing it alone.” She squeezed his hands, her gaze unwavering. “I’ll be with you every step of the way, protecting you.”

Tears welled up in his eyes, but he blinked them back, wrapping his arms around her tightly. She held him close, gently caressing his head, letting him draw strength from her presence.

After a few moments, he pulled back, his face determined despite his tears. “Don’t worry, Sis. I’ll be brave… just like you.”

Her heart swelled with pride, and she kissed his forehead. “That’s my Cupcake.” She helped him climb into bed, tucking him under the covers.

She sat beside him, rubbing his stomach gently until his eyes grew heavy with sleep. When his breathing evened out, she kissed his forehead one last time, a soft smile on her face as she left the room, pulling the door shut behind her.

Meanwhile, in the abandoned apartment next door, Bakugou grumbled as he adjusted the makeshift mattress he’d laid out. The whole place was a bit of a mess—dusty and unused for months—but he was determined to make it work.

As he shifted the mattress one more time, he heard footsteps and turned to see Izuku standing in the doorway, holding a small heater in his arms.

“Hey, Kacchan,” Izuku greeted, offering a small smile. “I, uh, brought over an extra heater. Thought you could use it.”

Bakugou rolled his eyes, but he jerked his head toward the corner of the room, grumbling, “Put it over there.”

Izuku nodded, walking over and setting the heater in the designated spot. He glanced around the bare apartment, then back at Bakugou, clearing his throat. “I didn’t know you lived here. I just bought my place recently.”

Bakugou snorted, folding his arms. “Tch. Yeah, well, this place isn’t exactly on my tour list.”

Izuku chuckled nervously, glancing away, before his eyes settled on Bakugou’s blood-stained bat lying nearby. The sight made his expression turn serious. “That woman… The one Y/N shot. She must have been infected.”

Bakugou’s face darkened, and he looked away. “Yeah. She was one of them.”

As Bakugou and Izuku stood there in the dimly lit apartment, a brief silence hung between them before Izuku broke it, fidgeting slightly. "Y/N… she didn’t seem scared after… you know," he said, thinking back to how calmly she had handled the situation. "Most people would've freaked out."

Bakugou scoffed, crossing his arms, but there was a hint of admiration in his tone. "Yeah, that officer’s not a scaredy cat. When things went down, she even told me and Kirishima to leave her behind and face that infected b*tch alone." His voice softened just slightly, as if letting his guard down for a moment. “She’s a mix of both strong… and beauty.”

He didn’t realize he’d said it aloud until he caught Izuku’s reaction—a dreamy look in his eyes, and a faint blush coloring his cheeks. “Yeah… very beautiful,” Izuku murmured, a soft smile on his face.

Bakugou’s face immediately turned red. “WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY, NERD?!” he barked, trying to cover his embarrassment with a scowl, shoving Izuku’s shoulder.

Izuku stumbled back, hands raised in defense. “I-I didn’t say anything!” he stammered, still blushing.

Before Bakugou could press him further, a voice interrupted, causing them both to flinch. "What’s going on here?"

They turned, eyes wide, to see Y/N standing in the doorway, her arms crossed and a small smile on her lips as she looked between the two of them. It was clear she had heard some of the noise, and the slight smirk on her face suggested she’d caught at least part of the conversation.

Bakugou quickly regained his composure, stuffing his hands into his pockets. “Nothin’,” he grumbled, avoiding eye contact.

Izuku rubbed the back of his neck, chuckling nervously. “Uh, w-we were just talking! About, uh… the infected… people.”

Y/N raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms as she glanced between the two, clearly amused. “Right… The infected.” She glanced at Bakugou, then back at Izuku, her eyes twinkling with a hint of mischief. “Glad to see you two getting along.”

Bakugou huffed, turning away to hide his slight blush. “Tch. As if.”

But Y/N caught the faint redness on his cheeks, and she couldn’t help but chuckle. “Well, I just wanted to make sure you guys were settled. I’ll be next door if you need anything,” she said, shooting them a warm smile before she turned to leave.

As she walked away, Bakugou muttered under his breath, “That damn woman…”

Izuku sighed, watching her go with a soft, thoughtful smile.
