The buzzer sounds fill Selena's ears. She is super nervous. She has been a swimmer for 4 years and today was championships. Everything she ever worked for mattered here. She wanted to leave everything in the pool. To tell herself she couldn't have done any better. As she stretches and warms up, she looks around at all the other competitors that showed up. Her race was about to begin. Her boyfriend , Jacob , his family, and her mom Ms. Kim were just as anxious as she was. Selena is jumping up and down and stretching to keep her mind off of being nervous. She just can't shake the feeling. She went up to Jacob and asked for reassurance. She said " I'm so nervous. Everything I've worked for is now being put to the test. I really feel like I deserve this first place." Jacob said, " Baby don't worry. You got this. I know you can do this. You just have to want it bad enough. Even if you don't win, your always number one in my book. Just remember to have fun and enjoy yourself okay?" Selena shook her head and answered playfully, " Yes sir!" She heard her race being announced. She went up to the block and stood. The announcer said " Swimmers take your mark!" The buzzer rang in her ears. They took off.
