After so long of Selena not speaking to her dad, she finally heard from him, but it wasn't what she was expecting. After the phone call her dad hung up in her face and she started bursting into tears. Her mom rushed into the room. Her mom said, " Baby what's wrong? What did he say to you?" Selena just sat there and cried into her mother's arms for what felt like forever. At the time her mom had found a boyfriend. They were staying with him for now. Well her mom and her boyfriend would argue a lot. Slam doors, cussing, screaming, crying, and more chaos. So Selena didn't feel like talking to anyone at that point. So she went to the temporary room where she would sleep, go in the corner, and cry and listen to music. She felt as if that's all she had left. She felt her life crashing down around her. She prayed and thought for years it would get better. Now she's starting to second guess what she had thought. The lyrics in the songs always soothed her. They made her even smile sometimes. It was one of the distractions she had always kept no matter what. As time went on, Selena became a very sad and depressed little girl. Her mother was being treated wrong, her dad was being mean to his own daughter, and so so much more. Her grades were no longer A's and B's. They dropped to C's and D's. Every phone call she had with her dad was mental abuse. Calling her names, blaming things on her, telling her it was her fault for everything being wrong, making false promises, making her feel worthless and he really made her feel like she didn't want to be alive anymore. Sometimes he would be nice, only to be more cruel. He would say " I'm coming to get you in an hour." She would wait for him. He never came. He wouldn't call for a month and then when he did he said he had been busy. It's no secret he lied to her, a lot. He would speak bad of her mother. Promised to come watch her play sports. He only went to one out of her entire life. Sometimes she would cry to her mother. Ask her " Why does daddy hate me? Why doesn't he love me anymore? Why is it all my fault?" As a strong mom her mom tried everything to get those bad thoughts out of her head, but Selena was just depressed.
