BACK AT HOME:
The siblings returned home, the weight of the still diagnosis hanging over them. They sat in Heeyoung's room, the silence heavy with unspoken fears. Heeseung broke the silence, trying to bring back some normalcy. "So, what do we do now? You wanna make a bucket list or something?"
Heeyoung sighed, a sad smile on her lips. "I guess we could start with some small things."
Heeseung nodded enthusiastically. "Alright, small things. How about we binge-watch all your favorite dramas and movies? We can stay up all night and eat junk food."
Heeyoung's eyes sparkled with a mix of excitement and sadness. "That sounds perfect."
Heeseung's face turned serious for a moment. "Hey, we're gonna get through this together, okay? No matter what."
Heeyoung nodded, tears brimming in her eyes. "Okay."
Heeseung glanced around the room, spotting a photo of them from a few years ago. "Remember that time we built a fort out of all the furniture in the living room and Mom almost killed us when she saw the mess?"
Heeyoung chuckled. "Yeah, and you blamed the whole thing on me!"
Heeseung laughed. "Well, you were the mastermind behind it. I was just the muscle."
Heeyoung rolled her eyes. "Sure, and who ended up cleaning the whole thing?"
Heeseung grinned sheepishly. "Okay, maybe that part was my fault. But it was fun, right?"
Heeyoung's smile faded slightly. "It was. And we'll have more fun times, right?"
Heeseung placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Absolutely. We're going to make every moment count. Just you wait."
IN THE FOLLOWING WEEKS:
Heeseung and Heeyoung embarked on their bucket list adventures. They visited local attractions, tried new foods, and made countless memories. They laughed, cried, and cherished every moment they had together.
One evening, as they sat by the beach, watching the sunset, Heeyoung turned to her brother. "Thank you, Heeseung. For everything. For being here with me."
Heeseung's eyes glistened with unshed tears. "I wouldn't be anywhere else, sis. You're my best friend."
Heeyoung snuggled closer to him. "You're mine too."
Heeseung tried to lighten the mood. "You know, if you weren't my sister, I might've considered sharing my snacks with you."
Heeyoung laughed. "You're so generous."
They sat in comfortable silence, the waves crashing gently against the shore. In that moment, they found solace in each other's presence, knowing that they were facing the harsh truth together, with love and laughter.
