"There's nothing but Spearow around here..." Ash complains, taking the binoculars off his face

"Well, that's the least of our worries, isn't it?" Misty says, sitting on the floor with a giant stump behind her

"Seriously Ash, this is getting ridiculous. Brock, what does the map say?" I ask, sitting on the giant stump with all our stuff, Pikachu right beside me

"Just because we're a little lost doesn't mean I have to stop catching all the pokemon I can, does it?" Ash turns to Misty, who is clearly getting irritated by his voice by now

"Of course not. Enjoy yourself." Misty responds sarcastically

"Alright, that's it, Misty, c'mon, we're going for a walk. Maybe we'll find the nearest route straight to Vermillion." I stand up, offering my hand to Misty to help her off the ground

"I would, but I can't go one step further... we've been looking for Vermillion City for ten whole days, Sallec, ten!" She starts to have a meltdown

As if it couldn't get worse, Brock leans in and points down next to Misty.

"Uh, there's a bug right on your-" He starts, but Misty interrupts him

"Get it away, get it away!!" She jumps behind me, scared of what was right on her

"Oh my bad, just a piece of grass." Brock picks up a pretty thick blade of grass and starts laughing

But Misty doesn't find it amusing and kicks Brock right in the face.

"Woah, Misty! Calm down, you don't need to give the man brain damage!" I hold her back from wailing on Brock more

"I'm going insane, where are we!?" She shouts in the air

Ash picks up the map Brock was holding and immediately finds out where we are.

"According to this, the middle of nowhere. But it looks like Route 24 leads right to Vermillion City." Ash states

"Does this trail take us to Route 24?" Misty asks

"According to my calculations, it does!"

"Brock, why does it take you so long to read a map but Ash can read it no problem!? Maybe its your fault we're lost, open your eyes, man." I sigh and I grab Misty's bag from the stump

"Lets get this show on the road then! Misty immediately gets all excited and gains the energy of a Thunderbolt from Pikachu

She starts walking ahead, only to stop at a shadow.

"Uh, Sallec, take a look at this thing..." She says, looking up at a dark silhouette

"It looks like a giant pokemon!" Ash interjects

We all walk up to inspect this supposed 'giant pokemon'. Upon further examination, its not giant pokemon. Red skin, flaming tail, sharp claws.

"That's... a Charmander..." I sigh "Not a giant pokemon."

Ash, Misty, and Brock sigh from embarrassment while I immediately think of multiple fun facts about a pokemon I didn't even know existed until now. But... something feels really familiar about it at the same time...

"The flame on a Charmander's tale represents its life force, so if it ever goes out, the pokemon dies along with it. They even have the flame when they're born, but since baby Charmander are unfamiliar with fire, they accidentally burn themselves." I state

I look to Ash, who's quietly trying to put his pokedex away.

"Sorry." I chuckle

"When I went to get my first pokemon from Professor Oak, I was disappointed because I couldn't get a Charmander. Now I can catch my own." Ash reaches for a pokeball
