When they finally arrived at Jungkook's house, Taehyung couldn't seem to move. His legs were trembling, still feeling the adrenaline from the ride. He gripped Jungkook's waist tightly, his knuckles white.

"Jungkook... you drove way too fast!" Taehyung protested, his voice shaky as he tried to steady his breath. He felt like his knees might give out the moment he attempted to stand.

Jungkook, noticing Taehyung's struggle, chuckled under his breath. "You're too dramatic," he teased lightly, though there was a softness in his voice that showed he wasn't completely indifferent to Taehyung's discomfort.

Without waiting for a response, Jungkook slid off the motorcycle and reached for Taehyung, his arms slipping under Taehyung's to lift him up. As he lifted him, Jungkook's eyes widened slightly in surprise.

"Wow... You're so light," Jungkook muttered, half in shock as he effortlessly set Taehyung on his feet. He hadn't expected Taehyung to weigh so little.

Taehyung, who was still unsteady from the ride, stumbled slightly before regaining his balance. His cheeks flushed pink, both from the embarrassment of needing to be carried and Jungkook's comment.

"Maybe you're just too strong," Taehyung mumbled, trying to brush off the awkwardness as he looked around, trying to avoid Jungkook's intense gaze.

Jungkook smirked, still finding Taehyung's reaction amusing, but there was something else that lingered beneath the surface. The feeling of how fragile Taehyung seemed in his arms, so different from the tough exterior he often tried to put on.

"Come on, let's go inside," Jungkook said, his voice softer than before, as he led the way to the front door.

As Jungkook opened the door and stepped into the large, modern house, he was immediately greeted by the familiar voice of his father's fiancée.

"Jungkook! You're back," she said warmly, stepping into the hallway with a bright smile. Her eyes then fell on Taehyung, and her smile softened. "And you've brought a friend. That's nice."

Jungkook's body visibly tensed at her approach. He glanced at her briefly, his expression unreadable, before looking away, clearly uncomfortable. The woman, despite her kind demeanor, always felt like an intruder to Jungkook—a reminder of the changes in his family that he hadn't accepted.

"Yeah," Jungkook responded curtly, moving past her without making much eye contact. "We're just heading upstairs."

Taehyung, however, didn't miss the way the woman's smile faltered slightly, though she tried to hide it. She seemed genuinely happy to see Jungkook, her eyes filled with a warmth that didn't match the cold shoulder Jungkook was giving her.

"Would you two like something to eat?" she offered, her tone still gentle, though a hint of hesitation crept into her voice as she looked between the boys.

"No, we're fine," Jungkook replied quickly, his tone edged with impatience. He glanced back at Taehyung, nodding for him to follow as he began walking up the stairs.

As Taehyung passed her, he glanced at the woman, and unlike Jungkook, he didn't see anything manipulative or insincere. In fact, she seemed genuinely concerned for Jungkook, almost motherly in a way. Taehyung could sense her sincerity—she wasn't trying to replace Jungkook's mother, but she clearly wanted to connect with him, despite Jungkook's coldness.

"Thank you, ma'am, but we're good," Taehyung said politely, offering her a small smile before following Jungkook upstairs.

Once they were out of earshot, Jungkook scoffed, shaking his head. "She's always like that... trying too hard," he muttered under his breath, his frustration evident.
