The day has finally come for the boys to hit the road to find a community. They were visibly nervous as they got all their food, weapons, and blankets in the car.

"Now that the day has come, I'm kinda nervous.." Diego speaks softly.

"Honestly, I'm a little excited! I get to find a community to survive with, most importantly with you!" Ted smiles lovingly, resulting in Diego's red face.

The road trip was long and exhausting, they still haven't found a lively looking building to check. So they parked in a private area and set down the seats to sleep in the car.

Ted grabs the blanket, throwing it over Diego. They cuddle up to each other in order to reserve space for other things.

"Mmhh Teddy I'm so sleepy.." Diego whines into the taller boy's chest.

"Well it's a good thing you can sleep right now, isn't it? Rest your pretty eyes.." Ted takes his fingers and comb his dark curls.

Though with the comfort of the other, Diego tossed and turned all night.

The sun finally starts to rise, giving light to the car. Ted's eyes flutter open, revealing Diego's head on his chest.

The boys were getting really close, but nothing serious has been addressed.. 'Would he even date a boy..?' Ted thinks to himself.

Diego rubbed his eyes and felt a hand rubbing his waist under his shirt. He blushes slightly and flicks his eyes to look up at the pair of light blue eyes.

"Ted, I'm too lazy to get up.." Diego whines quietly. The other hums in agreement, staying by his side.

As they went through their daily chores like washing clothes, getting food and water, Diego looked like a zombie from the lack of sleep. Ted notices this but thinks it would be rude to comment on it, but also feels bad because he didn't notice last night.

Diego finally had enough and sat on a log near the fire pit. He looked so out of it..

"Diego I know you said you were lazy but did you sleep at all? Do you want anything-"

"I'm going back to bed.." Diego hums.

Ted smiles and nods, 'It wasn't even an hour of being awake and he already went back to bed? I'll make him food.."

Ted gets to it, making him eggs and berries. Though he was a bit nervous about waking him up and seeing him upset, he shrugged it off and opened the car door.

Diego stirs and sits up, his hair a bit messy, Ted thought it was adorable that way. It was one of the reasons he loved the mornings.

Obviously Diego isn't a morning person, but he enjoys seeing Ted regardless.

"What is with you and berries.." Diego takes the plate gratefully with a soft smile.

"They're my favourite! C'mon you can't tell me the red ones aren't yummy!" Ted points at the plate.

"They are! Thank you.." Diego originally thought of kissing his cheek, but decided against it. Instead holding his hand.

Ted's ears flushed, not because he was cold, but very very warm.

"..Do you want me to stay then..?" Ted squeezed Diego's hand, to which Diego nodded in response.

A few hours go by of the pair being lazy, with Diego laying down reading, and Ted sketching in his book. Ted made a thorough sketch of the angle he was looking at from Diego laying down; he always found himself wanting to draw the boy, as if to hold the memories of him.

It was the sun's time to rest, so was it for Ted and Diego. But they didn't, they walked hand in hand to a beautiful field with flowers and gusts of wind. The glow of the setting sun illuminated the final hours of light as they lay in the flowers.

Ted sits up, picking some flowers and crafting a colourful flower crown. He picks the stem and loops to tie it.

"You know how to make flower crowns!? Can you make me one?"

Ted nods and giggles at his excitement, quickly making him a flower crown.

Ted lifted the crown onto Diego's head, "My prince.."

Both of them laugh and blush like idiots.

"I can make flower rings, want one?" Diego questions softly, wanting it to lead somewhere.

Diego finishes making the ring, and puts it on Ted's ring finger. "My king."

"You're such a dork!" Ted snorts and leans against Diego.

Hand, in hand, they stroll through the field of flowers. The sun finally almost set.

"Y'know what I've always wanted to try?" Ted breaks the silence.

"What?" Diego squeezes Ted's hand.

"I wanna try fishing! And that way, we can finally eat something else instead of birds and berries!" Ted smiles brightly, excited like a little kid.

"I mean, we can try to find fishing rods, but what about fishing bait? It would be pretty hard to catch fish without it.." Diego speaks in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Yeah I guess.. Wait but couldn't we just find some worms in the dirt or something?" Ted perks up.

"..That could work." Diego nods. "We would need a whole bunch though.."

Ted looks to the ground. "We should find an old farm, or wait until it rains so they'll be easier to find."

They let some silence pass as they walked back to the car, only the sounds of the wind and footsteps were heard. It was a comfortable silence, not one of much anxiety.

"We should find a motel or something.. I'm so tired of sleeping in the car." Diego mumbled, and lay on his back.

"What, you don't like sleeping so close to me?~" Ted smirks and giggles.

"No no, not that. It hurts my back.." Diego blushes and whines.

"Aw, I'm sorry.. I promise we'll find one tomorrow." Ted replies in a caring tone.

Diego felt his eyes get heavy, resulting in him falling asleep. Ted fell asleep shortly after, holding Diego in a protective embrace.
