Lisa's men didn't listen to Geo. They only listened to their boss, Lisa. Despite the father and daughter's protests and struggles, they held them and began dragging them away.
The other members of the branch families looked at the unbelievable scenes unfolding before them in horror. They stood frozen in their spots, afraid that if they made the wrong move, Lisa would also order his subordinates to drag them away and throw them out.
While the father and daughter were being dragged away, Geo continued shouting at Lisa.
"You're going to regret this!!! Don't you know that blood is thicker than water?!! That woman is only a woman!!! She's not worth destroying family relations!!! Breaking up our family over a woman?!!! The height of foolishness!!!"
Jane didn't lose to her father. She didn't stop screaming and shrieking at the men dragging her away.
"Don't touch me!!! I'll report you for physical and sexual assault!!!" Then she directed her anger at Jennie. "I hate you, Jennie Kim!!! This is all your fault!!! Because of you, we've been kicked out of the clan!!!"
Jennie ignored the father and daughter. She didn't have the time nor the energy to respond to their pure stupidity and hatred. She was more concerned about staying on the line and communicating with the dispatcher on the phone.
"The ambulance is on its way. It'll arrive soon," she announced in a calm voice.
"Oh, thank goodness!" Chitthip exclaimed in tears.
"En. Thanks, love," Lisa said.
"I told you that I'm okay now. There's no need to bring me to the hospital," Grandma tried to assure them.
"Grandmother, even if you're feeling alright now, you still have to see a doctor to make sure that your health is really fine. Or else we'll worry about you," Lisa told her.
Grandma sighed and nodded. Then she leaned back on the chair and closed her eyes to rest.
Fortunately, the noisy father and daughter, Geo and Jane, were now gone.
Later, they all heard the sound of an approaching siren. The ambulance finally arrived. After taking Grandma's vitals, the paramedics carried the elder inside the ambulance to bring her to the hospital. Chitthip accompanied her inside the ambulance.
Jennie and Lisa prepared to follow them in their own car, but before they could do so, two girls called out to Jennie.
"I know that you're in a hurry so we'll say this quickly. We're actually Black Stars. We love you, Boss! Please don't mind what Jane said to you. She's dumb. She doesn't listen to anyone, except for her dad."
"We're super excited to have you in our family! That's all we have to say to you. Please hurry to the hospital. I hope that the matriarch will be okay. Next time when we meet each other again, we hope that you can sign autographs and take some pictures with us."
Despite the urgent situation, the couple smiled at the two girls. Jennie was always kind and thankful to her true fans. She gave the two a hug each, delighting them.
"Thank you very much. I appreciate it. Of course, I'll sign autographs for you and we'll take however many pictures you want together. We're going to be family, after all. Bye now. We have to go," she told them.
"Yes, boss!"
"OMG! Boss hugged us!"
Lisa nodded at them before leaving with Jennie.
###
At the hospital, Chitthip paced back and forth in the hallway. She was wringing the front of her own dress with her hands in fear and anxiety. Her eyes were red and teary.
Jennie and Lisa sat together on the stiff hospital seats. Lisa was hugging her shoulder with one arm while she held his other hand, massaging it. At first glance, it looked like he was comforting her because he was the one hugging her. But in actuality, she was the one who was comforting him.
His hand felt cold. She massaged it, trying to warm it up. She stayed close to him, providing him with a stable source of warmth and comfort.
"Grandma will be fine," she murmured.
He didn't reply, only squeezing her closer to him.
A few minutes later, a nurse called them inside the room, informing them that the doctor had finished examining Grandma. When they entered, the elder woman sat on the bed. Contrary to what they expected, she looked energetic.
Chitthip hurried to her mother-in-law's side. "Mother, how are you?!"
"Calm down, Chitthip my dear. I already told you that I'm alright. The doctor says that I'm also alright. Right, doctor?"
They all turned to the doctor.
"Yes, she's fine now, medically speaking," he told them.
It was only then that everyone released big sighs of relief.
"However, she's now advanced in age. Her heart isn't as strong as it used to be. As much as possible, avoid making her feel too emotional or distressed. She might experience a full heart attack next time. We don't want that, so please take care of her overall physical, mental and emotional health," the doctor explained.
"Oh, thank goodness!" Chitthip exclaimed.
"Doctor, I want to attend my granddaughter-in-law's party tomorrow. It's an important event. Can I go?" Grandma asked.
Lisa: "Absolutely not."
Chitthip: "Mother, no!"
Jennie: "Grandma please rest."
"But I want to attend. I'm feeling alright now!" Grandma said, her tone stubborn.
"It should be fine," the doctor said. "Like I said, your grandmother is fine now. All the tests we conducted on her returned with normal results. Medically speaking, she's healthy. However, we must all remember that she's already advanced in age. No matter how healthy she is, her body and her organs aren't what they used to be when she was younger. She can attend the party tomorrow but make sure that she doesn't exert herself too much and get plenty of rest before and after. Understood?"
"See? I told you I'm fine."
Jennie smiled at her. "Grandma, thank you very much. I appreciate that you want to attend my company's grand launch tomorrow to show your support for me. But I think that it's safer for you to stay at home and rest. How about we livestream the event for you so that you can still watch it even when you're resting at home?"
"En, good idea," Lisa immediately supported her suggestion.
Chitthip followed suit. "That's a great idea, Ruby! Mother, let's do that instead. Okay?"
But Grandma remained stubborn. "No. I want to attend so I will."
Jennie and Chitthip looked at Lisa with helpless expressions on their faces.
"That old gorilla will be attending tomorrow. There's no way I'm going to stay at home while he has all the fun! He's attending to support Ruby. I also want to go because I'm proud of my future granddaughter-in-law. This is my right! Why are you all stopping me?"
The doctor discreetly excused himself to allow the family their private conversation. After thanking him, they returned to discussing Grandma's desire to attend the grand launch of Jennie's company, Orchidia Beauty, tomorrow.
They all tried persuading her to stay at home and rest but the elder lady refused. She insisted on attending the grand launch.
"Isn't it fine? Let Grandma attend if she wants to. I'll also attend tomorrow. Don't worry. I'll be her escort and keep an eye on her," Haruto said, appearing in the room all of a sudden.
