Finn and I entered the house and headed for the drawing room. No one else was around so we set the coffee and food down on one of end tables. We stood at the back of one of the three couches that were set around the room in a U shape. I waved a hand at the coffee tray Finn had just set down. "Go ahead and try them all then you can keep the one you like best."
I watched him closely as he tried the different drinks. He made disgusted face at the first one just barely stopping himself from spitting it out. I almost giggled at his scrunched up nose and curled lip. The second one he nodded his head at. The third he smacked his lips twice before wincing and setting it back in the cup holder. The fourth made his eyebrows raise as he drank, clearly enjoying it. "Hmm this one is very nice!"
"Here let me see it so we can order it again." He passed the cup over to me so I could read the ticket on the side of the cup. "It's a butter pecan iced latte, you have good taste Finn." He gave me a small smile at that.
My heart was warm as I passed the drink back to him enjoying that small expression. I turned to go around to the front of the couch when I was startled, throwing my fist out by instinct. "Ow!" The pain in my knuckles pulsed with the pain around my heart from the compulsion. Finn's brother Kol looked offended that I had thrown a punch out at him. His hand was over his jaw where I had made contact.
Seeing that offended look turn into amusement sent me into a fit. The same sisterly feeling that had me mouthing off to Niklaus filled me and I reached out with both hands. It took two hard shoves against his chest to tip the tall boy over the back of the couch. "Don't scare me like that you dickfaced freak! Ughh!"
Loud cackling could be heard from the doorway as Rebekah bore witness to the entire scene. "Fantastic! Please keep her around Finn!"
"A dickfaced freak?! I'm do not have a dickface nor am I a freak!" Kol was standing now keeping the couch between us. His handsome face twisted into a snarl.
I raised a brow with a snarl of my own and put my hands on my hips. "Really? You look like one. Act like one too, scaring me like that!"
Finn stepped in now with his coffee still in his hand. "Enough Kol. Mindosia please don't antagonize him." He reached out and plucked up drink number two, a s'mores iced latte, and passed it to me. "Rebekah come choose a coffee, Kol gets the last one since he is a dickfaced freak."
Rebekah and I both burst into giggles at Finn's proper voice copying my very improper insult. Kol looked completely stunned at his brother's reaction to what had transpired.
"Oh come on Kol, don't be a buzzkill. I called Niklaus a panty sniffing weirdo earlier and he wasn't even fazed." I waved a dismissive hand at him moving to the donut box. As the laughter stopped in shock I looked back at them. "What?"
"You called Klaus a panty sniffing weirdo?" Rebekah asked, her eyebrows were nearly touching her hair in her shock. "And he didn't kill you?"
I reached for an apple fritter ripping it in half, I kept one side for myself while passing the other to Finn. "Well yeah. I would have said something wilder if he didn't pick a fight with Finn and ruin our plans for the day. Speaking of, I brought movies for us to watch."
Rebekah finally got over her surprise and moved to collect her coffee. Looking through the two boxes of food she chose a mixed berry bagel. Kol was right behind her snatching up his drink and the three biggest donuts in the box.
"And why should we spend the day with you Morsel?" Kol said around a mouthful of chocolate frosting.
Finishing the fritter, I took off the backpack I was wearing. "Well if you want to speak to anybody that looks your age without being labeled as a homeschooled loser, you'll need to do your research. All of these are popular enough that everyone has watched or at least knows the plot of them. Besides movies are an easy conversation point that can distract people from the fact that you guys have no idea what's going on in the world right now."
"I have seen some of these films already." Rebekah started going through the backpack setting them into different piles on the couch.
"And what exactly is going on that we don't know about?" Kol stared hard at me pausing his eating.
I rolled my eyes as Finn split a cream filled donut, passing one half to me. "Well for starters it's 2011 in America. A country that didn't exist when Finn was last awake. Slavery and segregation are finally outlawed across most of the world. Women have equal rights to men now in case you didn't notice my lack of a chaperone. Do any of you even know how to work a cell phone or use the internet?"
In response Rebekah pulled a cell out of her pocket but Kol just looked confused.
"Right well Kol you will never blend in with other young men if you can't even look up a porn site. We can start with popular movies that will help you blend in just enough to get through the ball tomorrow." I picked up a napkin turning away from Kol to wipe cream from the corner of Finn's mouth. "Later on we can get you guys on the laptop so I can show you MySpace and Facebook. You at least need to know what they are."
Rebekah picked up one of the stacks, mostly filled with romcoms. "Well there is a theater we can watch these in. You will have to figure out how to set it up though, no one has bothered to show us." The blonde balanced her coffee and bagel in her spare hand before marching her way out of the room towards the art studio where I met Niklaus.
With a sigh Kol stuffed his final donut into his mouth, picked up his coffee and grabbed a trio of bagels as followed her out of the room.
Finn and I shared a look of amusement before moving to gather the food. I combined the donuts and bagels down to one box while he carried our drinks. I followed Finn out of the drawing room through the art studio to a massive in home theater. The room was straight out of a magazine complete with the red velvet seating.
The younger Mikaelsons sat in the middle row so I lead Finn to the row behind them. The seats were larger and more comfortable than the ones at the public theater. I put my coffee down in the cup holder and reached over Rebekah's shoulder for the movie she picked. It took a few minutes to figure out how to get it started but it was fairly simple. I turned the overhead lights off and made my way back to my seat with the remote for the DVD player.
After a few ads the title screen popped up. I tried to contain my excitement at getting to see the three vampires react to Rebekah's choice of 'Twilight'.
