Mid-Whilsire Bullpen

John Nolan: (grinning)
"Chen, you're killing it out there. I swear, one day I'm gonna be the one taking notes from you."

Lucy Chen: (laughing)
"Thanks, Nolan. But don't get ahead of yourself. You've still got a few things to learn."

Tim Bradford: (walking past, overhearing)
"Don't let Nolan boost your ego, Boot. Pride comes before a fall."

Lucy Chen: (smiling to herself)
"Yeah, well, I'm not a boot anymore, Sergeant."

Tim Bradford: (smirking)
"Still my boot, Chen. Always will be."

As the banter continued, Lucy felt comfortable in her place at the station. But every time Tim made one of his sarcastic comments, a small voice reminded her that there was a part of her life she could never share with them.

Chapter 2: Ghosts of the Past

LAPD Briefing Room—Cybercrime Discussion

Nyla Harper: (to the team)
"Alright, listen up. We've been hit with a series of cyberattacks targeting high-profile targets across the city. Personal data, case files—everything is compromised. The hacker's alias? 'Nightshade.'"

Lucy feels the blood drain from her face.

Angela Lopez: (looking at the screen)
"Nightshade? Sounds like a comic book villain."

John Nolan: (joking)
"Maybe we'll need Batman to take this one down."

Lucy Chen: (forcing a smile)
"Yeah... something like that."

No one noticed how tightly Lucy gripped the table, her mind racing. 'Nightshade' was a name from her past—a part of her she never thought she'd have to face again.

Chapter 3: The Break-In

LAPD—Captain Grey's Office

Sergeant Grey: (frustrated)
"We've got a problem. There's been a break-in, right under our noses. Someone physically entered the station last night and made off with sensitive case files. This is connected to the Nightshade cyberattacks."

Tim Bradford: (tense)
"Whoever it was, they know exactly what they're doing. This isn't some run-of-the-mill hacker. They've gone deep, and now they've gotten inside."

Lucy Chen: (quietly)
"They're escalating."

Nyla Harper: (suspiciously glancing at Lucy)
"You okay, Chen? You've been quiet since this all started."

Lucy Chen: (trying to brush it off)
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just... thinking."

Chapter 4: The Discovery

Lucy's Apartment—Late Night

Lucy stares at her computer screen, her fingers trembling over the keyboard. A cryptic message appears:

Message:
"Come back, Nightshade, or everything burns."

She jumps when she hears a knock on her door.

Tamara Collins: (entering)
"Lucy? You okay? You've been acting weird lately."

Lucy Chen: (quickly closing her laptop)
"I'm fine, Tamara. Just... work stuff."

Tamara Collins: (raising an eyebrow)
"Work stuff? This stressed? You sure?"

Lucy Chen: (sighing, trying to hide her panic)
"Yeah. I'm just tired. Go back to bed, okay?"

Tamara hesitates but eventually nods, leaving Lucy alone with her racing thoughts.

Chapter 5: The Confrontation

Abandoned Warehouse—Lucy Confronts Evelyn

Lucy Chen: (holding her gun steady)
"It's over, Evelyn. Step away from the keyboard."

Evelyn: (smirking, her fingers poised over the keys)
"You don't get it, do you? You were a legend, Nightshade. I worshipped you. And then you just disappeared, leaving everything behind. I'm finishing what you started."

Lucy Chen: (angrily)
"I never started anything! What I did back then—it was a mistake. I'm not that person anymore."

Evelyn: (laughing)
"Not that person? Oh, come on, Lucy. You think being a cop makes you a saint? You're still Nightshade, no matter how hard you try to deny it."

Lucy tightens her grip on the gun, her heart racing. She hears the distant sound of approaching footsteps—backup.

Lucy Chen: (desperate)
"You don't have to do this. We can help you. It doesn't have to end like this."

Evelyn: (coldly)
"Help me? You had your chance to change the world, and you blew it. I'm finishing the job."

Suddenly, the LAPD task force bursts through the doors—Tim, Nyla, Nolan, and the others storm in.

Tim Bradford: (shouting)
"Chen, stand down!"

John Nolan: (rushing over)
"Lucy, are you okay?"

Lucy lowers her gun, staring at Evelyn, knowing there was no going back from this moment.
