When I eventually stood meekly in front of the tall character I felt my confidence waver and a sense of dread arose. I knelt, because I felt that was the only proper thing to do.
Moments passed, I felt like I was there for hours, awkwardly kneeling on the black, glass floor. After a while I tentatively lifted my head, and I heard a booming voice in my head. I can't recall what he said, it was mostly just a lot of feeling that he poured into my head. I was frightened, I didn't know what was going on and this voice was filling my head.
After we left, Keoki explained that on everyone's first visit to the throne room he spoke that way. He terrified people into submission to prevent them committing unforgivable crimes. Keoki explained that what was in my head was just a lot of feeling that he poured into people, nothing to worry about though. But I'm sure I heard a voice there too. My biggest shock was that, the figure was my father, and yet how could he be?
I took Keoki to my room to ask about the 'child of Light' and 'child of Dark' thing. Keoki's eyes went dark for a moment, but then he went on to explain.
Our father was a 'child of Dark' because he was born with a black heart, he could only understand one of the two languages that our people spoke. Consequently, all the people only spoke Greek within the hearing of others. Keoki explained that, our mother, Luna, was a 'child of Light'. Luna saw the good in everything, even in children of 'Dark'. Luna understood both Greek and Latin, but she could also speak one other language that only children of 'Light' know. Luna had seen the good in our father and sought to marry him, for she loved him. Our father had used her, he had become bored of her and killed her. Before she died she bore twins, Keoki and I, and she hid us in the mortal world.
Our father found us and called us home, now he seeks to teach us 'right' from 'wrong'. I share a look with Keoki and know that he too doesn't quite trust our father's judgement but we'll have to sit and wait. Although, it might be more difficult for Keoki because he's already in father's 'good' books.
Keoki also explains to me that there isn't just the dark realm here in Alaska, there is also fire, ice and water. It's unusual for them to mix and in some cases it is banned. Keoki also knows that we are different in another aspect. Our mother had part of the ability of all the realms' people and so we have the same few abilities.
