Nicholas POV:

I almost kissed Alana. I couldn't wrap my head around it. My mind was going crazy at the thought that I, Nicholas Martinez-Perez almost kissed Alana Aiello. Until her phone rang and broke us out of our daze. This game that I find myself playing with Alana is becoming too dangerous, but I can't stop. I've wanted her for so long and now that I have her attention I can't help but to find myself drifting towards her.

I was glad everyone wanted to go out to the beach today. I could use the distraction, I felt like my head was going to explode with all this thinking.

I went to my room and got dressed in a regular pair of black swim trunks and a pair of sandals. I didn't bother putting on a shirt but I packed one in my bookbag just in case along with some sunscreen, lotion and my wallet. I picked up my bag and made my way downstairs.

The guys were all waiting in the foyer and of course the girls were still getting ready. How long does it take to put on a bikini?

"Should we just leave and tell them to meet us at the beach?" Reese said as he looked up from his phone. I was about to respond but before I could we heard footsteps making their way down the stairs.

"You guys ready?" Candice asked.

"Are you seriously asking us if we are ready?" Liam snapped back.

"Don't get your panties in a twist. We didn't take that long Liam."

Liam just rolled his eyes and got up from his slouched position on the couch. "Well then shall we."

Liam and Candice have always had this sibling-like relationship ever since they met. They bikered back and forth over every little thing.

We left for the beach using the patio entrance which gave us direct access to the beach. We walked a bit until we found the perfect spot where there weren't too many people. The beaches in Miami are always so lively, full of families enjoying the warm weather and the crisp summer air. Women sun-bathing or playing beach volleyball and guys playing football.

The girls had laid out some towels while us guys set up a few umbrellas at some lounge chairs that were available. I turned to let the girls know we were done with the set up when I saw Alana taking off the dress she was wearing. She was fucking beautiful. The bikini she wore for her body perfectly and I wasn't the only one who noticed. A couple guys that were walking by had stopped to stare at her. I cleared my throat to catch their attention and it worked, they looked my way and saw the death glare I sent their way. They immediately scattered away but now I have another problem. Liam!

Liam had made his way over to Alana and started chatting her up. Whatever he said must have been funny because the next thing I know Alana was throwing her head back in laughter.

"You know Nick, maybe if you just ask her out instead of staring at her all the time like a creep you could get somewhere." Reese said, breaking my gaze away from Liam and Alana.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh come on man. I've known for years about your little crush on Lana. It's hard not to notice from the way you look at her."

"Is it that obvious?"

"Very. Dude, just ask her out. You've known each other for years. What's the worst that can happen?"

He's right. What is the worst that can happen? Maybe she'll realize that all this flirting is just that. Flirting! Maybe she doesn't want anything more than just our friendship. Or maybe she'll realize that all of this is just a reaction she's having from her recent heartbreak.
