Alana POV:

I was late. Or more like running behind, but what can I say Nick is irresistible. We definitely made out for more than 5 minutes when my phone going off once again broke us from our session.

My mama had called saying she was on her way to the beach house and she would be here in 15 minutes or less. I took a quick shower and got ready wearing a cute hot pink criss cross romper that would be perfect for the Miami crisp weather. I put light makeup on and sprayed a few spritz of my perfume that smelled like strawberry pound cake. What can I say? I love smelling edible.

I grabbed my phone and purse and made my way down the stairs. As I made my way to the foyer I saw everyone sitting on the sofa talking to my mother, laughing at something she said.

"Hi mama." I announced myself. Everyone turned to look my way but my eye was on one person. I felt heat rise to my cheeks from the way he looked at me. Like I was the only one in the room.

"Hello il mio tesoro oh how I missed you my sweet sweet girl."

"I missed you mama." I said, wrapping my arms around my mother. We have barely seen each other since she moved to Italy.

My mother was born in Sardinia Italy and moved to the states when she was 18 with my grandparents. She met my father her sophomore year in college and a year later they were married, another and she was pregnant with me. My father pretty much left my mom with all the responsibility while he continued to live his best life as a college frat boy. My mom slaved away to get her degree while taking care of herself and a baby.

I never knew why my mother stayed with my father. All she ever said was she loved him and love made her do stupid things.

"We should go tesoro. I want to spend the entire day with my sweet girl." I smiled at her and nodded. We said our goodbyes to everyone and left the beach house.

My mom and I had driven down to this cute cozy cafe called Lillith's. We sat outside the cafe and ordered some blueberry muffins and ice coffee.

"So, tell me tesoro, what's been going on with you? How are things with Eric?" My mother asked her, accent thick.

Oh fuck I never told her about Eric. I looked down at my coffee focusing on the ice cubes in it. I felt nervous to tell her for some reason. Like I would disappoint her or something.

"Uh w-well about t-that mom." Why am I stuttering? Jesus pull yourself together Alana. "I caught Eric sleeping with Amy." I said under my breath and took a sip from my coffee.

"What? Speak up dear I can't hear a word you're saying."

I signed and told my mother everything that has happened with Eric. When I was done speaking I looked up at my mother thinking she would be disappointed in me but instead she had the biggest smile on her face. Well that's...weird. "Um...mama why are you smiling?"
