In the aftermath of The Shroud's defeat, things begin to settle down in the multiverse, but not all is as it seems. Though The Shroud has been vanquished, its influence lingers in the shadows—echoes of its presence continue to ripple through different dimensions.
Kei's visions return, more vivid than before. She dreams of vast, dark landscapes where the ground shifts like liquid and the sky is filled with stars that flicker out, one by one. The dreams end the same way each time—with a voice calling her name.
Voice (whispering):
"Kei... you belong to the void."
Kei jolts awake, beads of sweat running down her face. She looks out of her window, where the first rays of sunlight are just beginning to peek through. The words linger in her mind like an echo.
Teri is in the command center, analyzing data from the recent battle with The Shroud. He is tracking multiversal anomalies—fluctuations that indicate something is still very wrong. Kei approaches, still shaken from her dreams but trying to maintain composure.
Teri (without looking up):
"You didn't sleep again, did you?"
Kei pauses, leaning against the doorway.
Kei (quietly):
"No. I've been seeing... things. I don't think it's over, Teri."
Teri looks up from his console, concern evident on his face.
Teri (seriously):
"I've been picking up strange readings. Minor disturbances across multiple timelines. Nothing major, but..."
Kei walks over to him, gazing at the swirling data on the screen.
Kei (whispering):
"They're echoes. Remnants of The Shroud. It's still out there... in some form."
Teri clenches his jaw, his mind racing.
Teri (resolute):
"Then we need to find it. Before it regroups."
