The night before.
The Crown Prince lay on his bed. His eyes darting around the room watchfully.
There was someone lurking outside his room and from the looks of it, it didn't seem to be a guard neither did it seem to be his brothers or the servants of Oktaejeong.
The person outside was either a spy or an assassin. The Crown Prince gripped the hilt of the sword underneath the sheets.
Just as the unknown person was about to open the doors, another person appeared.
"You are?" The person asked.
Chaeyeon?
The Crown Prince sat up. The unknown person retreated immediately.
What was she doing up so late?
He wondered as he stood up.
He was about to open the doors when he heard the voices of the royal guards.
"Who goes there?" A guard asked.
"No one." He heard her reply.
The Crown Prince had to keep himself from chuckling.
She had really changed a lot.
"What mission does a servant have to do at this hour?" Another questioned.
" Well, I need to prepare a bath for the Fifth Prince should he wake up." She replied.
She doesn't sound scared and neither did she mention seeing someone lurking outside my room.
That was a smart move.
It seems she also found their sudden appearance suspicious as I did.
The Crown Prince half smiled.
"Okay, you can leave now. His Highness the crown prince must not be disturbed."

The Crown Prince watched Chaeyeon from inside the carriage. She didn't say anything but that didn't mean she wasn't recognized.
From the look of things it seems they've begun taking action.
Since she disrupted their plan, the next thing would be to get her out of the picture.
The Crown Prince exhaled and closed his eyes.
Things could become even more dangerous.
They tried to kill him in a very brazen manner.
Who knows action they will take again to achieve their goal.
Lives could be at stake.
He could not just sit by and let them hurt innocent people.
His eyes slowly opened and his gaze landed on Chaeyeon.
He had to protect her at all cost.
He certainly couldn't and he wouldn't let her be in danger after all she became caught up in this mess because of him.

At their arrival at the palace, the Eunuchs and servants attending to the Royal Princes walked up to Chaeyeon and the rest of the servants collecting the valuables they had brought back.
While handing over the belongings of the fifth prince, Chaeyeon secretly glanced at the Crown Prince.
Given his usual carefree nature, he should've come around but he was clearly lost in his own world. He wasn't even listening to the ramble of the Fifth Prince.
