When Dream showed up, he didn't knock, as he always did. He simply walked in and saw Tommy on the couch messing with stuff. The young god looked up at him and smiled that mischievous cheeky grin he always had on, "aye, Dream! Sup big man!"
Dream walks in and chuckles, sitting down on one of the armchairs and leaning forward with a smirk, "and here I expected to find you hiding out in your cabin again after yesterday's tantrum."
Tommy laughed, slightly irritated at his audacity to say he was having a tantrum, "oh, if anyone had a tantrum, it was you! Saying that I'm being selfish for missing my family out of the blue like that!"
"It wasn't all out of the blue! We were all having a good time before you decided to make things more depressing and not just decide to live in the moment!" Dream defends as he looks at Tommy, noticing the slight change in temperature, feeling it rise.
"Why are you being so weird lately? Normally you just brush this sort of shit off and act all chill about it, but now you're all sensitive!" Tommy accused, then paused, "unless," he mumbles before speaking in a quieter manner and leaning close to him, "unless it's that time of the month for you."
Dream gawked at his words, "Tommy, no- boys don't even-" the green god groaned, "what event even led you to assume that?! That's only for girls!"
Tommy shrugged, "you seem pretty feminine to me. Also, you've been really moody. So if it's not that, then are you becoming emo or something?"
At his words, Dream sat there dumbfounded, "how in the world are you this stupid?"
Tommy grinned and rested his arms behind his head, leaning back into the couch, "my brilliance is too much for you old people to comprehend."
"More like your incompetence." Dream murmured with a huff.
"Precisely, I'm so incomprehensible that you can't comprehend the words I say and the things I do!" Tommy smirks at his own brilliance all the while Dream stares at him as if he's trying to read a kindergartner's journal, although that might even be easier than this.
Dream sighs and rubs his eyes, "why do I have to babysit you?"
"Hey, not like you would've been my first pick. So be grateful that you got to watch me in all my glory, peasant." The blonde says with a smug look on his face.
Dream glanced up at him with his fingers pausing their massage to his temple so he could glare at the boy. That's when his eyes noticed something off just behind him over by the door.
Dream saw a lump on the once smoothed down rug and huffed, getting up to fix it, "what the hell were you doing to cause this?" He asks, being a stickler for stuff being neat.
Tommy noticed what Dream was doing and internally panicked. He sat up, "you're always such a fucking stickler."
Dream rolled his eyes and pushed the shelf up onto its side, causing some of the trinkets on it to go sliding to one side. "Why the hell does this weigh a ton?" He kept pushing it up a bit while using his foot to pull the carpet and flatten it out.
Tommy was focused on two things right then, and worried about both. One being Dream accidentally finding the hatch and the other being all of the items on the shelf falling. His eyes keep looking up at the shelf and down at the floor.
When Dream was done, Tommy finally relaxed and slouched back down. "You really need to stop messing around and causing such a mess." He told the blonde.
Tommy has been wanting to punch Dream for a while, and man that urge has been getting stronger lately with his attitude.
While Dream was walking back over, Tommy went back to doing nothing. Dream was about to sit down, but then there was the sound of something hitting the ground and shattering. Tommy's eyes widened and he looked back, seeing a wooden picture frame on the ground.
Tommy's heart sank and he hopped over the back of the couch, using his wings to glide down and get to the frame quicker. He glided down onto his knees and hesitantly picked the frame up, turning it over. His breath hitched in his throat as he stared at the scuffed photo with the broken frame.
It was a picture of when all of them had won a competition. They all had gotten crowns from it. Wilbur was the one taking the picture, Phil had his crown over his bucket hat because he didn't want to take it off, Techno's was too big for his head and kept slipping down and covering his eyes, and Tommy was behind Techno. He accidentally blinked but Techno didn't want to take another, so his eyes were closed in it.
The spruce frame was broken at the top right corner. There was glass on the ground and still some in the frame. The used to be pristine picture was now scuffed up a bit. Tommy stared at the picture, the urge to punch Dream being very high now.
"Hey Dream." Tommy said, there was an annoyed undertone in his voice.
"Hm?" Dream hummed.
"Get out." He said, looking up at the green god with a glare, "now."
"Tommy, it's a picture." Dream started, "you need to come to terms that they're not coming back. It's been over a thousand years."
"Oh you shut your mouth." Tommy scowled, "can't you let someone miss something? Grieve the loss of close people? Or are you just a heartless man?"
Dream stared at him in slight shock, "Tommy, no, I'm just trying to protect you."
"I don't need you to fucking protect me!" The younger shouted, his wings lighting a blaze. "You have just been pushing my grief to the side for over four hundred years!"
Dream stood there for a moment and Tommy pointed to the door with a stone cold look in his eyes, his wings creating a shadow over his face, "now get out."
Dream hesitated before slowly walking to the door, "... don't say I didn't try, Tommy." The green god then walked out, closing the door.
Tommy stayed there for a few more moments before wiping the glass into a pile and putting the picture and its frame on the coffee table, being careful to make sure that his wings didn't catch anything on fire as he slowly tried to calm down.
"I'm fucking tired of this." He muttered and walked out, going to his cabin and grabbing a backpack of his, dumping everything out on the ground and packing clothes and other things in it. He's going to find his family.
