SARA STOOD THERE AS SHE WATCHED ARTHUR OPEN THE DOOR. he looked at her up and down, confusion and concern washing over his face as he took in the sight of sara standing opposite him.
"sara, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice a mix of worry and curiosity.
sara looked up at him, her heart racing, and struggled to hold back her tears.
"i just need to talk to someone."

arthur nodded, his brow furrowing slightly as he stepped to the side, trying to muster the right words.
"uh, yeah, of course. come in." he gestured awkwardly, as if unsure of how to make her feel comfortable.
as sara walked in, the moment the door clicked shut behind her, the floodgates opened. she felt her composure crumble, and she immediately broke down, her sobs echoing in the quiet room.

arthur stood there for a moment, frozen, unsure of how to react. he shuffled his feet, glancing around as if looking for a manual on how to handle the situation.
"do you, um, want to sit down?" he finally suggested, his voice a little too loud in the silence.
sara nodded, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand as she sank onto the edge of the couch. arthur awkwardly perched beside her, his body tense, unsure of how to comfort her without making things worse. "so uh what, what happened?," he asked, scratching the back of his neck.

sara took a shaky breath, her voice barely above a whisper.
"i... i broke up with drew," she admitted, her eyes glistening with tears.
"i found out he was cheating on me. can you believe that? after everything we went through?"
arthur felt a mix of anger and sadness for her, but deep down, he also felt a sense of relief.
"that's awful, sara. you deserve so much better than that," he said, trying to keep his voice steady. he couldn't help but feel glad that she was free from someone who clearly didn't appreciate her. memories flooded back to him—the night they first met, the laughter they shared, and the way she looked laying next to him.

sara nodded, wiping her eyes again.
"i just... i thought he cared. i thought we had something real. but i knew he didn't care."
arthur shifted awkwardly in his seat, unsure of what to say next.
"i mean, it's just... really unfair, you know? like, you're amazing, and he just... didn't see that," he stammered, feeling his cheeks flush slightly. he wanted to comfort her, but he wasn't sure if he was saying the right things.
"i just... um, if you ever need someone to talk to or hang out with, i'm here. i mean, not that you need me, but... yeah."
