Four years ago, he left the Port Mafia. Four years ago he left his partner.Four years ago, he left her
"You want me to do what?!" an orange hair man exclaims to his boss. Masumi was standing off to the side. The man, who she knew as Chuuya, was asked to take her under his command. She didn't mind the idea. She wished Dazai was here.
"I said, I want you to take dear Masumi under your wing. Isn't that a wonderful idea, Chuuya? You were Dazai's partner after all" their boss, Mori, added. An annoyed grunt came from the younger male.
"Fine. i'll take the damn kid" he finally whines. Earlier he tried begging Mori to send Masumi to Kouyou instead. Although, the boss was persistent that it had to be him.
"How wonderful! Masumi, you work under Chuuya now. I trust that you know to follow his orders." Mori explained. Sugar coating his words. Chuuya turns to the child and takes her wrist. Dragging her out the room. She was quite relieved about this, the boss's room always seemed... suffocating, in a way. She suddenly realised she doesn't know where he's taking her. A mission, his home, a home? She can always just as- no. Dazai said it was disrespectful to ask questions.
"Hey shrimp, where do you stay?"
"I stayed in Dazai's apartment."
"...nevermind... you aren't staying there. You're coming with me, I have an extra room."
He sounded annoyed. She thought him and Dazai were partners? Why does he talk as if he hates Dazai?
Chuuya is confusing.

"I'm done, sir Nakahara." Masumi announced. He told her to fill out some paperwork for him. Surprisingly, he seemed laid back although being an executive. Dazai always kept her busy with whatever he could to help her.
"Kay. just do whatever, i don't have anything else for you." he stated as if it was nothing. She looked at him, blinked once. Then twice.
Free time?
She stares at him. What can she do? All she did was stare when Dazai didn't give her orders. Like a doll. A puppet. So to do when she is given nothing to do. Chuuya seems to straighten up before turning his head to the side.
"Can you please stop staring. It's annoying. If you don't have something to do, read." he scolds the young child. He points over to the bookshelf in his office. Her head turns to look at it. Fantasy, action, mystery books littered it. Who knew an executive had this many books. The only book Dazai owned was his suicide book. Without a word Masumi gets up and picks out a mystery book.
"You can also read in your room. I don't need to watch you 24/7. He's not here y'know?" Chuuya mentioned. That surprised her, he was giving her free time, allowing her to read his book, and letting her roam his home? Why? She nods at him, ignoring how she feels. Taking the mystery book to her 'room' that Chuuya showed her earlier.

She didn't know how long she was reading but it was now 4:27pm. It felt odd to her not being ordered to do something. Although reading a book, her mind was bothered by something else. Chuuya. Knowing him and Dazai were partners he must be around 20. Although he's a bit short. To Masumi he's being kind, unusually kind. He looks like the kind of father who would offer their kid a glass of wine. Overall, confusing, very very confusing.
A soft knock came from the frame of the door. This caused her to look up. Chuuya stood at the door frame.
"Hey kiddo. Boss gave us the day off so we can get you settled in, wanna go around Yokohama with me? We need supplies and a better layout of the city." he told her. He wants her to go out with him for.. Shopping? Was that an order? She nods in response before bookmarking the page she was on. Slipping on her shoes. He asks another question.
"Did you like the book? You seem to have gotten pretty far." he asks. She noticed that when he talked to her he seemed worried. No, anxious, or maybe awkward? Masumi looks up from finishing up her shoe lace to him.
"Yes, sir Nakahara. Page 323 out of page 428." Masumi answered. It was a mystery book, it was pretty well written. She had a pretty good guess on who the murderer is but she maybe wrong.
"Just call me Chuuya, it's easier. Now come on." he gestures to her to follow him. Making her way down the different paths of the port mafia base. The two finally make it to an exit. It's been four years since she's been outside. It's been four years since she saw him.
After he left and was reported as a traitor to the port mafia, she was originally going to be put under Kouyou's command but Masumi was unresponsive to anyone but Dazai. So she was instead Mori's daughter, Elise, babysitter. Or friend is what she called Masumi.
Stepping in daylight, she was blinded by a setting sun. the look of awe was plastered on Masumi's face. It was the prettiest thing she's seen in years. A breeze sways in her ash brown hair. Being here in the sunlight made her feel alive. A chuckle is heard from Chuuya when he sees her surprised state.
"Let's go, Masumi. We're going to get you clothes, then basic supplies, if you see anything you want on the way just tell me." he takes the kid by the hand. A small smile forms. She felt happy.

Chuuya and Masumi were walking down a sidewalk near a river. He was carrying her bags for her, which truthfully, half of them was his stuff. The walk was mostly silent. He learned quickly that she never spoke unless told to do so, which annoyed him a bit.
As for how shopping went. For him it was... weird. He tried to let her choose but in the end she only chose the clothes he recommended. She didn't seem to possess her own opinions. Although to say he didn't expect this, would be lying. She was regarded as Dazai's weapon, afterall. He hated that people called her that. Treating her as if she's not human.
"There you are, you troublesome blockhead!!" Masumi heard a man yell from the lower platform. Chuuya turns his gaze to the man, then to who he was yelling at.
He pauses.
Dazai.
Masumi attempts to look only for Chuuya to cover her ears and make her look away, almost dropping her items to the ground if it weren't for Chuuya's ability, gravity manipulation. Looking up at him, he looks surprised. Like he has just seen a ghost of someone he loved. Masumi's face was filled with confusion, tilting her head as well to express how she felt.
"Let's get going, kid. I'll make lunch when we get home, okay? He finally says. More muffled screaming comes from the man. Chuuya takes his hands of her ears, much to her comfort. She didn't try to look again, he made it very clear he didn't want her too. Chuuya begins to walk, which she assumes is the port mafia headquarters.
She heard another voice call out. It sounds a lot like Dazai.
