There he was

There he was. The man she waited for. Masumi remembered the night she met him. She remembers when he trained her. Reassured her after a blood filled mission. Now standing in between Akutagawa and the weretiger Atsushi.

His ability, No longer human, allows him to nullify other abilities he touches. Causing Atsushi to turn back to normal and Akutagawa's attack to disappear. That also means.. He was waiting for Masumi to unpause time. Because her ability doesn't affect him. She luckily did, making Atsushi drop to the ground.

He also looks different. His old black long coat was replaced with a light beige coat. And most noticeable, his bandages on his face aren't there anymore. He kept his usual short, fluffy, brunette hair.

Time seemed to stop for her. But not because of her ability, because of him.

Dazai says something.

Akutagawa mutters something.

Higuchi protests.

It's all muffled. Everything. All she did was stare at a Dazai. She couldn't look away, even as she was dragged away from him by Higuchi. He says something. The only thing she's been able to make out for the past few minutes (that felt like hours). His words before she leaves were.

"I'll save you."

Masumi was out of it... most of the day after that. Chuuya came to retrieve her not too long after she got back to base. She was aware that Chuuya asked if the mission went well, even though she didn't capture the tiger. She gave no response.

After getting back to his house, he ordered her to work on some paperwork. It was hard to focus on, her mind kept wandering back to Dazai. Seeing him. What he said. What he would do. How would he do it?

"Masumi!!"

The orange haired man calls out, snapping her out of her thoughts. Causing her to flinch. Now looking up at the man who was in front of the desk. Expecting to see a face of anger or disappointment for not hearing the first time, instead she sees a face of worry.

"You okay, kid? I called your name like five times. You've been sitting there staring at the papers for ten minutes." Chuuya mentioned. She didn't realise. Did she make him? Just apologise. Just say sorry. But what if that makes him more mad? In the end of her thoughts, she decided to apologise.

"I'm sorry, Chuuya. I'll get them done as quickly as possible." She quickly apologised. She went to pick up her pen but only to stop. Looking up to see Chuuya's gaze on her. His face filled with.. worry? She had so many questions but refused to ask him. Just looking at him everytime he seemed worried about her, hurts. It hurts a lot. Because she doesn't understand why he's worried. Everytime, she feels like she's failed him in some way. She didn't even realise she was shaking.
