The air inside Ethan's truck was thick with lingering heat, the windows still fogged from their earlier passion. Lexi's heart raced in her chest as the reality of what had just happened started to settle in. She was still lying on the grey leather bench seat, completely naked, her mind swirling with panic. Outside, Ethan's mother was banging on the window with a ferocity that made Lexi's stomach turn.

"Ethan, what the hell are you doing in there?" his mother's muffled voice echoed from outside.

Lexi fumbled for her clothes, her hands trembling as she tried to gather them, but before she could even sit up, Ethan's hand pressed against her arm, gently but firmly holding her down.

"Don't," he whispered, his voice calm but filled with authority. "Just lie down. I've got this."

"Ethan—" she started, her voice shaky.

"Trust me," he cut her off, his eyes locking with hers. "Stay down. Don't move."

Lexi's heart pounded, but she nodded, unsure of what else to do. The panic still swirled in her, but there was something in Ethan's calm, steady voice that made her stop. She lay back down on the seat, her pulse racing, trying to control her breathing. Outside, his mother's fists continued to pound on the window, her voice growing louder.

Ethan sat up slightly, reaching for the window. Instead of opening it fully, he cracked it just enough to speak, his voice calm but stern when he addressed his mother.

"Mom," he said firmly, his voice low but commanding, "calm down. Whatever I'm doing out here is my business. I'll come inside when I'm ready."

His mother's voice cut off suddenly, shocked by the sharpness in his tone. There was a long pause, the only sound the quiet night air and the faint hum of the truck's engine.

"What the hell, Ethan?" his mother finally spat, clearly caught off guard by his response. "Fine. But don't think you're off the hook."

Lexi heard the frustration in his mother's voice, followed by the heavy thud of her retreating footsteps. The door to the house slammed shut, and silence fell once again.

Ethan turned back to Lexi, a grin spreading across his face as if the whole thing had been nothing more than a minor inconvenience. "See? No big deal."

Lexi stared at him, her chest still tight with anxiety. "No big deal? Your mom almost caught us naked in your truck!"

He laughed softly, the sound soothing despite the chaos that had just unfolded. "She won't come back out," he said, his voice casual. "She's used to me being out here. She's just pissed she didn't know what was going on."

Lexi shook her head, a mix of disbelief and amusement washing over her. His calm demeanor started to ease her nerves, and she found herself laughing quietly, the tension slowly dissipating. "You're insane, you know that?"

"Yeah, but you're here with me," he teased, his eyes twinkling mischievously, "so what does that say about you?"

She rolled her eyes, but her heart felt lighter, the panic ebbing away. They both took a moment to get dressed, the intimacy still hanging in the air between them. Even with the scare, the connection they shared in that truck felt deeper, more intense than before.

Once they were fully clothed, Ethan looked over at Lexi, his gaze softening. "Come inside with me," he said, his voice filled with warmth. "I don't want the night to end like this."

Lexi hesitated, glancing toward the house. "Your mom is in there..."

"She's asleep," Ethan reassured her, his hand brushing against hers. "She won't bother us again. Trust me."
