The ride to Mystic Falls High School was silent, the air thick with unresolved emotions. When we arrived, the school was eerily quiet, no sign of anyone around.

"For whom are you texting?" I asked, noticing Stefan typing something on his phone.

"Caroline," he replied curtly.

"You’re involving Caroline in this?" I asked, feeling a pang of worry.

"Are you afraid your friend will do something to your sister?" he challenged.

"She won’t do anything," I insisted, though I wasn’t sure if I was trying to convince him or myself.

We walked through the deserted corridors, the tension between us growing with each step. Suddenly, Rebekah appeared, her presence as commanding as ever.

"Hello, Stefan," she greeted, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "I didn’t expect to see you here, Cassie."

"It’s good to see you too, Beks," I replied, trying to keep things civil. "May I know when you arrived?"

"A while ago," she said dismissively. "We’ll talk later. First, I want something from Stefan."

Stefan’s jaw tightened. "I’m here. What do you want?"

"The same thing I wanted when you helped Niklaus try to dagger me," Rebekah said, her eyes narrowing.

"The cure," Stefan replied, his voice steady, but I could sense the underlying tension.

Before I could react, Rebekah pushed Stefan against the lockers. He quickly regained his balance and pushed her back, their strength evident in the force of their movements.

"You guys should stop that," I interjected, stepping between them.

"Don’t worry," Rebekah said with a twisted smile. "I won’t kill him. But I hope he’s waiting for Caroline to show up and stake me…" She pulled out a white oak stake, its deadly point gleaming in the dim light.

"What?" I gasped, my heart racing.

"They’re trying to kill me, Cassie," Rebekah said, her voice a mixture of anger and betrayal. "But you know what? I found her."

"What’s happening here, Stefan?" I demanded, my gaze shifting between him and Rebekah.

But Stefan didn’t answer, his silence only fueling my growing fear.

Rebekah, sensing the tension, relaxed her stance. "Well, I’ve arranged a talk show. Shall we?"

Without waiting for an answer, she started walking, Stefan following close behind. I had no choice but to follow them, a sinking feeling settling in my chest as we headed toward whatever Rebekah had planned.

As we entered the library, the atmosphere felt thick with tension. Elena's eyes widened as she saw Stefan. "Stefan..." she began, her voice wavering.
