A few days had passed since everything had settled down. Qetsiyah had stayed with me for a bit, but eventually decided to take some time to figure out what she truly wanted to do. Caroline and Elena went back to Whitmore, and while Damon visited me now and then, he mostly spent his time with Elena. Tyler had returned to town, but Klaus remained in New Orleans, tangled up in his own mess. After the whole ordeal with Silas and Amara, Stefan was still a wreck. He wasn't really talking to anyone besides Lexi and me. Alaric had taken up a teaching position at Whitmore, and Bonnie was back with Caroline and Elena at college, trying to return to some normalcy.

I was still in Mystic Falls, keeping an eye on things to make sure everything stayed calm. For now, it was. With Silas gone, the town had settled down, and Bonnie's dad, Rudy, was making sure of it, keeping vervain in the water and running things as mayor.

Then, there was Elijah. He had asked me to come with him to New Orleans, but I couldn't. Our breakup was still fresh. We never really had a proper date, despite everything between us. I thought it might've been different, but it didn't work out. New Orleans was his life now, and I had mine here. It hurt, but I wasn't going to follow him down that path.

Just as I was lost in thought, the doorbell rang. I got up to answer, already sensing who it might be.

"Lexi," I said with mock surprise, opening the door. "What a rare pleasure."

She rolled her eyes and gave me a light shove as she stepped inside. "Shut up."

I laughed, closing the door behind her. "So, how was your date with that guy... Christe, right?"

She plopped down on the couch, tossing her hair back. "It was fine. He's charming, innocent, but I miss the thrill, you know? The excitement."

I smirked. "So, what's the verdict? Yes or no?"

She sighed. "I don't know. Maybe I'm just bored."

I raised an eyebrow. "Lexi Branson, over 350 years old, and you still don't know what to do after a date? I'm shocked."

"Ha ha, very funny," she said, giving me a look. "Don't think I've forgotten your track record. When's the last time you went on a date? High school?"

My smile faded slightly. "Hey, I've had my fair share of... situations."

She grinned, already seeing through me. "Situations, huh? Like with Stefan?"

I rolled my eyes, but couldn't help but laugh. "That wasn't even a proper relationship. It was just... no strings attached."

"And you walked away," Lexi pointed out, not missing a beat. "Because you wanted more. I get it."

I shrugged, feeling a twinge of regret. "Yeah, I did. I didn't want to keep things casual. I thought I was done with that."

"Stefan was probably disappointed," Lexi teased, then softened. "But now things are different. You're both single. So, what's stopping you from trying again?"
