THREE YEARS LATER
Jungkook blearily opens his eyes and his gaze is instantly met with Taehyung ’s. “What the – ”
Startled, Jungkook takes another second to take everything in. It’s quiet, and too dark in their room for it to be a decent time to rise. Taehyung is still staring at him, but unlike Jungkook he is outside of their bed, in day clothes, holding a cup of coffee.
“What’re you doing?”
Taehyung smiles. “Looking at you. You’re beautiful, Boba Ball”.
Jungkook groans, and rubs a hand over his face. There is such a thing as flirting with someone too early in the morning. “What time is it?”
“Five o’clock.”
“Five o’clock?” Jungkook repeats. He reaches for his phone to confirm it. “What are you doing up and dressed at five o’clock?”
“I got up at four.”
The one of Jungkook ’s eyes that can handle the light widens at him. “What? Why?”
Taehyung lowers his mug and looks at Jungkook with an annoyed expression. “We’re getting married today, if you recall.”
“Yeah, at two o’clock this afternoon,” Jungkook says. He doesn’t know how Taehyung thought he could forget that today is their wedding day. Even if Jungkook wants to forget (and part of him did given the media circus that occurred when Namjoon posted their engagement photos), Taehyung wouldn’t let him. Jungkook never expected Taehyung to be into wedding planning. He thought Taehyung would force Namjoon into having a small civil ceremony, or for Taehyung to give up on a wedding entirely and to whisk Jungkook away for an elopement in another country.
Jungkook obviously didn’t count on Taehyung ’s enthusiasm.
The last eight months were wrought with Taehyung ’s insistence that theirs be the best wedding in the history of weddings. He repurposed Jungkook ’s four-inch binder that Air originally gave him (Taehyung had no need for a personal manager anymore), and within a week the binder overflowed with everything from guests lists to reference photos, from quotes on venues to catering ideas. Jungkook managed to curb Taehyung ’s zeal enough to cancel the helicopters that he wanted to take as a dramatic exit of their reception.
Remembering all the things that he did agree to, like the multiple locations for wedding photos, or seating his family with Taehyung ’s at the reception, Jungkook groans and throws himself back under the covers.
“You’re going back to sleep?” Taehyung asks nervously.
“That’s the general idea.”
“Hey,” Taehyung taps Jungkook through the covers. “Just remember: you’re not allowed to sleep in.”
“Bear, it’s five o’clock in the morning,” Jungkook says. “I doubt you’d let me sleep in, anyway.”
Jungkook feels Taehyung sit on the mattress beside him. A hand runs through his hair. “Two hours, little bunny,” he says, voice soft.
“Mmm.”
__________
Of course, something had to go wrong. Jungkook expected it, really. When has anything between him and Taehyung gone exactly to plan?
Jong Gyu, Taehyung ’s younger brother, had mentioned offhand several weeks ago that he was bringing a plus one to the reception, and neither Jungkook nor Taehyung gave too much thought to who that would be. They were too busy with other wedding nonsense. On the day in question, Jungkook is peripherally aware of Namjoon trying to call them multiple times that morning. However, Jungkook and Taehyung are too busy taking a photo shoot’s worth of photos in various scenic locations, and stopping briefly to say hello to their couple-fans, to return the calls immediately. (Jungkook still can’t believe that there is a Taehyungjungkook fan club that rivaled TeamTaehyung sWives in size in such a short time.)
