"I'LL TALK TO YOU LATER." I wroth to leon as the morning light filtered into the classroom and I slipped into my seat, feeling the usual buzz of whispers around me.
It was another day at Eden Academy, another day of trying to keep a low profile—though that wasn't exactly easy with how curious everyone seemed to be about Leon.
The girls in my class had been pestering me with questions ever since they saw him drop me off at the dorms a day ago.
As I sat down, I could hear the familiar giggles from the group of girls a few seats away. They had been eyeing me since I walked in.
"Y/N!" one of them called out, her voice too sweet, laced with curiosity. "So, who was that guy we saw you with the other day?"
I pretended to be absorbed in my notebook, scribbling nonsense but their persistence was hard to ignore.
"You mean Leon?" I asked, keeping my voice casual.
"Yeah, Leon." another girl chimed in, leaning forward with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "He's pretty cute. You two... close?"
I could feel the heat rise to my face as I gave them a nonchalant shrug. "We're just friends."
"Friends, huh?" one of the girls teased, not buying my casual tone. "You sure about that? He didn't look like 'just a friend' when he was walking you home"
I opened my mouth to retort when I noticed something—or rather, someone. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught Demetrius Desmond glancing in our direction.
He sat a few rows away, calm and composed as always, his face perfectly neutral but there was something different in the way he was watching—his gaze sharper than usual.
The girls' laughter continued to echo in the background but my attention was split. Was Demetrius listening?
One of the girls spoke up again, bringing my focus back. "Seriously though, Y/N. Is he your boyfriend or something?"
I laughed, shaking my head. "No, like I said, we're just close friends."
The conversation drifted off after that but I could still feel Demetrius' gaze on me. It was subtle, almost like he didn't want to be caught but I noticed it. It felt odd. Not bad, just different.
Usually, Demetrius didn't pay much attention to anyone unless it was absolutely necessary. He was reserved, disciplined and focused solely on his academics. He didn't waste time with idle conversations or gossip.
But today, something was different. A few minutes later, the teacher entered the room, signaling the start of class.
I tried to shake off the strange feeling I had and focus on the lesson but as the teacher droned on, I couldn't help but sneak another glance at Demetrius.
His face was stoic as usual but there was something about his posture—his grip on his pen seemed tighter than usual. It was strange.

"Y/N Lumine and Demetrius Desmond." The teacher announced and I blinked in surprise since i wasn't listening.
The teacher continued, his voice steady and authoritative. "I want all of you to work together and send it in by Monday, you can choose your own topics but it must be something we've learned during this time." He closed his book and with that the class erupted into chatter.
I glanced over at Demetrius and saw him sitting calmly, his expression inscrutable as he gathered his belongings.
I couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking. Did he see this as an opportunity or was it just another obligation to him?
