„In the shadows of a restless night, two hearts, scarred and guarded, collide like distant stars close enough to burn, but too far to reveal their light."
Akaya's POV
The mansion's sprawling grounds looked almost peaceful under the silver moonlight, but Akaya knew better. There was no peace to be found within these walls, only the sharp edges of unspoken words and the ghosts of what had been lost. The dim glow from the study window cut through the darkness, signaling that her father, Atsushi, was still awake.
She hesitated, glancing back at the pink GT-R that had carried her through another victorious night. The black wings on its side seemed to shimmer in the moonlight, a reminder of who she was when she left this suffocating house a phantom on the streets, untouchable. But now she was just Akaya, the dutiful daughter returning to a home she feared.
With a heavy breath, she pushed the heavy front door open and stepped inside, taking off her dripping Jacket wich was drenched by the rain.
The house was quiet, the silence pressing in like a suffocating blanket. She wanted to go to her room, shut out the world, but her father's voice echoed down the hallway."Akaya," he called, his tone sharper than glass. "Come here. Now."
She clenched her fists, resisting the urge to snap back. She knew what this was another confrontation, another reminder that no matter how far she drove or how fast she went, she would always end up here, under his thumb. In this house that suffocated her more and more with every breath she took in here.
She walked towards the study, her steps heavy with the weight of everything she wished she could say and couldn't.Atsushi sat behind his desk, a glass of whiskey in his hand, his dark eyes narrowed as he watched her cross the threshold. His suit was immaculate, as always, not a single hair out of place. In moments like this, she could almost see the man he used to be the one who had loved her mother, who had once smiled without the shadow of guilt hanging over him. But those days were gone, and all that was left was this cold, distant figure.
"Where were you?" he demanded, his voice deceptively calm.
"Out," Akaya replied, meeting his gaze with a defiance that she knew would only make him angrier. "Racing. Winning. Like the good daughter I am, am I.?" she says with a devilish grin on her face.
"Racing," he repeated, the word like a curse. "You're risking everything. Do you understand that.? Your name, our Family's reputation.?" he says. „And even after everything you've done you have the nerve to act like a cocky child"
She swallowed hard, the familiar knot of frustration tightening in her chest. "No one knows who I am out there. I'm just another racer to them. Don't make such a big deal out of it"
Atsushi's eyes flashed with fury, and he slammed his glass down on the desk, the sound shattering the silence. "Don't play games with me, Akaya. You're not just another racer. You're my daughter. Do you think I don't know what you're doing? I've heard the rumors, don't accuse me of being dumb."
She flinched, her fingers digging into her palms. He had no idea what it was like, having the control over everything you're doing. The adrenaline you feel in every sharp corner you take, the risk of just miscalculating one centimeter and accidentally killing yourself by crashing your car into the next object near you, it's a feeling of control but freedom at once. But she couldn't tell him. He'd never understand.
"I'm being careful," she said, forcing the words out between clenched teeth. "I know what I'm doing."
"Do you?" he shot back, standing so quickly that his chair scraped against the hardwood floor. "Because it seems to me that you're just trying to throw everything away. What happened to the girl I raised, the one who had a future?"
