starts dating when you are in your seventh year and Neville is in his fifth year
Meeting them:
You and Sarah walk side by side toward Platform 9 and 3/4, the bustling crowd a familiar sight. The start of your third year at Hogwarts fills you with excitement as you chat with your Muggle-born friend about everything you've been looking forward to—Quidditch matches, Hogsmeade weekends, and, of course, new lessons.
As you approach the magical barrier between platforms 9 and 10, you notice a young boy standing alone, looking lost and holding a toad. His wide eyes scan the area nervously, his trunk resting awkwardly by his side.
"Poor thing looks confused," Sarah murmurs beside you. You nod, the Hufflepuff in you urging you to help.
You approach the boy with a kind smile. "Hey there, are you okay?"
He looks up, startled for a moment, but then relief washes over his face. "I... I'm supposed to be getting on the Hogwarts Express, but I can't find the platform."
You chuckle softly, understanding how daunting it can feel the first time. "You're almost there. The platform's just through that barrier," you say, pointing to the entrance. "Don't worry, I can show you how it works."
He brightens at your offer of help. "Thank you! I'm Neville, Neville Longbottom."
"Nice to meet you, Neville," you reply warmly. "I'm Y/N, and this is my friend Sarah. Ready to catch the train?"
Neville nods eagerly, still clutching his toad. You and Sarah lead him to the barrier, and after a few moments of reassurance, he watches in amazement as you demonstrate how to walk through the wall. When it's his turn, he hesitates but eventually steps forward, disappearing through the barrier with a determined look.
On the other side, you see the Hogwarts Express in all its glory. Neville turns to you with a huge grin. "Thanks so much, Y/N! I don't know what I would've done without your help."
"No problem, Neville," you say, feeling a sense of pride in helping him. "Now let's get on board before we miss our seats!"
House sorting:
As you and Sarah settle into your usual seats at the Hufflepuff table, the Great Hall buzzes with excitement. The Sorting Ceremony is about to begin, and you can't help but glance over at the group of wide-eyed first years waiting nervously for their turn. Among them, you spot Neville, standing awkwardly and shifting his weight from one foot to the other, clutching his toad.
You feel a wave of fondness for him, remembering how lost he had looked at King's Cross. You wave to catch his eye, and he gives you a small, nervous smile in return. As Professor McGonagall begins calling names, you watch him anxiously as the list of students grows shorter and shorter.
Finally, "Longbottom, Neville!" echoes through the hall, and Neville walks hesitantly up to the stool. He looks pale, and you silently root for him, hoping he'll find his place without too much stress.
The Sorting Hat is placed on his head, and the hall falls silent. You lean forward in your seat, waiting. Seconds tick by, and you can almost see the internal struggle Neville must be having. And then, with a booming voice, the Hat declares, "GRYFFINDOR!"
The Gryffindor table erupts in cheers, welcoming their newest member with loud applause. Neville, still looking a bit dazed, stumbles off the stool and heads toward his new housemates, a slight flush on his cheeks.
