Chapter 7: Friend or Enemy?

DARIUS

The water was uneventful, cradling the small vessel as a mother gently rocks her baby's cradle.

The unfortunate campers crossed the reinforced concrete bridge and climbed back into the yacht.

They ate half lunch in near-dead silence before Yazmina said she was going to the cabin to rest.

<<Are you... well?>>
Darius asked once the door leading below deck had closed behind the sportswoman.

<< Who Yaz? She's fine... why shouldn't she be fine?>>
Kenji replied, smiling nervously.

The remaining members of the group stared at him with narrowed eyes and raised eyebrows.

Kenji sighed.
<<She's suffering from severe nightmares... Like all of us... Have you seen her face? She's destroyed... Maybe even worse than us actually...>>
He said, looking sadly at his friends.

Sammy got up from the couch.
<<I'm going to check it...>>
She said reaching her friend below deck.

The group watched the Texan disappear through the door.

<<When we've all recovered a bit... could we look for Bumpy?>>
Ben proposed as they watched the three remaining campers sitting on the sofas.

<<It might be a good idea to have our friend with us again>>
Darius said, getting up from the couch to lean on the railing of the boat.

<<well... Surely we will find her with the herd of ankylosaurs we left her with, right?>>
Brooklynn said getting up from the loveseat.

the three boys froze.

Darius stood up in a panic.

<<What is it? What did I say?>>
Brooklynn asked frowning.

<<Y-you're bleeding! Are you OK?!? Are you hurt?>>
He was alarmed as he took a few steps towards her.

Kenji, closest to the girl, grabbed her arm for fear that she might faint when he saw her lower her head and turn pale.

The commotion brought out an alarmed Sammy and a sleepy Yasmina.

<<What's happening?>>
Yasmina asked, her eyes cloudy with tiredness.

Sammy saw the scene, then watched as Ben hurriedly left to look for the yacht's first aid kit.

Then he relaxed his shoulders, placing a hand on the sportswoman's shoulder and burst into a sweet and hearty laugh.

Yazmina glimpsed the bloodstain in the superstar's pants.
<<Ohhh>>
Yasmina nodded, relaxing.

Darius was shaking with panic.
"Can anyone tell me why you two are laughing?"
He panted, worried about his friend.

<<I have my period...>>
Brooklynn's voice was embarrassed as she leaned her head further into his chest, wanting to disappear.

Ben stopped from his run, Darius was confused and Kenji managed a muffled laugh as he was in shock.

<<I... Uhm... I think I'll go to the cabin...>>
Brooklynn stammered, walking quickly towards her cabin with her head down.

<<So it's normal?>>
Ben asked as he approached the boys.
