The sparring room in Titans Tower was filled with the sounds of clashing fists, quick footsteps, and the occasional grunt of exertion. It was supposed to be a routine training session, just another day of honing their skills as a team. But for Damian Wayne, today was anything but routine.
As Robin, he had always prided himself on his discipline, his control, his ability to stay one step ahead of everyone. But lately, something had shifted inside him. The pressure of living up to the Wayne name, the expectations of being Batman's son, the weight of leading the Titans—it had all begun to gnaw at him. And today, it felt like everything was closing in.
"Damian, you're up!" Nightwing called from across the room, tossing a bo staff toward him. Damian caught it easily, his eyes narrowing as he faced his teammates.
Raven, Starfire, Beast Boy, and Blue Beetle stood in a loose circle, ready for the next round of combat drills. It was supposed to be friendly, a way to sharpen their reflexes. But as Damian gripped the staff in his hands, he felt a surge of anger he couldn't control.
"You ready, Robin?" Beast Boy asked with a grin, shifting into his usual playful tone. He morphed into a tiger, prowling around Damian in a teasing manner.
But Damian's face was stone. There was no banter, no smirk. Just cold focus. "Yeah," he muttered, tightening his grip. "I'm ready."
The signal was given, and the fight began. Damian moved quickly, too quickly. His strikes were sharper, harder, aimed not to disarm but to wound. He lashed out at Beast Boy first, the staff crashing down on the tiger's head with a force that made the others wince.
"Hey! What the—" Beast Boy shifted back to human form, clutching his head. "What's your problem, dude?"
But Damian didn't stop. He spun, swinging the staff with lethal precision at Raven, who barely had time to raise her dark energy shield. The force of the blow sent her stumbling backward, her eyes wide with shock.
"Damian!" Nightwing shouted from the sidelines, sensing that something was wrong. "Ease up!"
But Damian wasn't listening. His vision had tunneled, his mind consumed by a swirl of rage and frustration. He had spent years keeping it all in check, shoving it down, pretending he could handle the pressure. But now it was breaking free, and the Titans were caught in the storm.
He turned on Starfire next, launching himself at her with a flurry of kicks and strikes. She blocked a few, but the intensity of his attack took her by surprise. "Robin!" she cried out, using her strength to push him back. "What are you doing?"
But Damian's mind was far away, lost in the dark corners of his thoughts. Every time someone called his name, it sounded distant, like an echo underwater. All he could feel was the weight of every failure, every mistake, every time he had fallen short of what was expected of him.
"Enough!" Blue Beetle's voice cut through the chaos as he activated his armor, flying between Damian and Starfire, his energy cannons glowing in warning. "Stand down, Robin. You're taking this too far."
Damian's eyes flicked to Blue Beetle, and for a split second, it seemed like he might stop. But then something snapped. Without warning, Damian lunged at him, aiming for a weak spot in the armor with surgical precision.
Beetle's eyes widened as he barely dodged the blow. "Damian, stop!" he shouted, but it was no use. Robin was fighting to kill.
From the corner of the room, Nightwing had seen enough. He rushed forward, tackling Damian to the ground in an attempt to restrain him. "Damian, listen to me! This isn't you!" he yelled, struggling to pin his younger brother.
