Hoyeon told them that Hwi video-called to talk to his son, Little Jun, because he was going to leave to the north in a few days and would be staying there until the year was over. He would only be returning next year.
"Hwi...Donghwi said that he heard that the signal at the place where he'll be staying is terrible so he might not be able to call our son as often as he wants."
Jennie nodded because she already knew about it. Jay told her during the Kim Industries' party that part of Hwi's punishment was to send him to a tiny, rural branch up north. What with Lisa's accident and learning about her pregnancy, Donghwi had slipped out of her mind these past few days. But he just had to pop up right now and cause her blood to boil.
"The spineless scoundrel!" Chaeng mock-punched her other hand's palm while her face contorted in anger. "How dare he upset our dear Little Jun and cause our baby boy to have a tantrum? I'm gonna kick that man's balls the next time I see that son of a bitch."
"But Eldest Brother Hwi is Little Jun's father," Jisoo whispered in a sad voice. "He has every right to talk to his own son."
"I'll never deprive Hwi...Donghwi of his rights as my son's father," Hoyeon said. "Even if our relationship didn't work out in the end, I know that he loves our son very much. I'll never stop him from forging a close relationship with our son as long as he doesn't take Little Jun away from me. That's where I draw the line."
"Tell us exactly what happened," Lisa said while wrapping an arm around Jennie's shoulders to keep her calm because he could already sense her currently oversensitive emotions starting to destabilize again with the mere mention of Hwi's name.
Yeon nodded and started telling them the details of what happened when Hwi called. The two of them didn't speak much to each other, except for when talking about their son. They had been cold to one another. Yeon's role was mostly holding the phone for Little Jun so that the father and son could chat with each other.
"Thankfully, Hwi didn't make any trouble or harassed me. He just focused on talking to our son. It was just that Little Jun is still very young with limited vocabulary so their talk wasn't about anything substantial. The two of them just mostly looked and smiled at each other."
Everyone relaxed a little after hearing that Hwi didn't deliberately cause any trouble. Jennie and Lisa especially felt relieved because they had personal grudge against him.
"While Little Jun was distracted playing with a toy, Hwi asked if he could see our son before he leaves for the north," Yeon said.
Jennie narrowed her eyes and Lisa had to tighten his arm around her, silently telling her to calm down.
"How did you respond, Big Sis?" Jae asked.
"Did you agree?" Alice asked next.
"I told him that he's free to visit our son anytime. I won't stop him. But he must come either here at Dragon Palace or we'll arrange something at Gold Heights condo."
Chaeng asked, "And? How did that son of a bitch respond?"
Jisoo grimaced. "Chaeng, could you tone your words down a bit?"
"Fine, whatever. I'm already used to you always being kind to others anyway, especially to your Kim relatives even though most of them bullied you one way or another." Chaeng threw a meaningful leer at Jennie when she said this.
Jennie raised an eyebrow but didn't respond. She wasn't the least bit affected by Chaeng's insinuation because it wasn't actually her who bullied Jisoo in the past. It was the original owner of the body, not her.
"Let the past stay in the past, okay?" Alice interrupted. "Ruby and Jisoo's relationship is great now. Very great! There's no need to dwell on what happened in the past. Besides, aren't we talking about Big Sis Yeon's matter right now? I want to know how she responded to Big Brother's request. I don't want any more interruptions from any of you. Big Sis Yeon, the stage is yours again."
Yeon smiled at her before continuing to speak. "Donghwi wasn't happy. I'm assuming that he doesn't want to step foot anywhere near Ruby and Lisa's territories. He wants to change the place of meeting but I refused. It's only here at Dragon Palace and Gold Heights that I feel comfortable letting him see our son. These two places are filled with people I trust and if something bad happens again like last time, I'm sure that my colleagues will be able to react more quickly and remove my son from the situation."
Lisa nodded in approval. "I had my subordinates undergo extra training after that mess involving the three of you inside your Gold Heights unit. That will never happen again but in the off chance that it does, my subordinates will know how to react more quickly and handle it more effectively than the last time."
"Thank you. I personally know how hard the training here is especially after joining your security team. It's many times harder than what I experienced in bodyguard academy."
"Actually, the new training regimen wasn't supposed to be that hard," Lisa said in a wry tone. "The difficulty level increased so much only after Fifth Brother Jiyong and his subordinates came and started staying here. I heard that watching his subordinates train ignited my subordinates' competitive spirit, so they requested to adapt some of Fifth Brother's unique training methods."
Jae fanned himself dramatically with his hands. "That's why Big Brother Boss' body became so big and so hot and so sexy! His training is insane! Ah, be still my maiden heart!"
"I know, right?" Alice said next, her zombie-like eyes lighting up with life. "Those muscles are so yummylicious!"
