Warrior Trial.
In fact, the so-called warrior trial, generally speaking, is to accomplish things that others cannot do and to prove to the world that one is braver than ordinary people.
But to put it more succinctly and clearly, it is a form of quickly increasing reputation.
A few days later.
One afternoon.
Kevin came out of the forest, holding the huge beast head and handing it in at the castle, completing another warrior test. Not long after, he saw Cu Chulainn, who had just recovered from his injury and climbed out of the bed.
Kevin couldn't help but smile as he looked at Cuchulainn, who had been standing by the roadside pillar, waiting for him for a long time. He walked up to him and asked, "Are you healed?"
"Almost." Cu Chulainn, who was slightly taller than Kevin, stood in front of Kevin, hit Kevin with a punch, and scolded with a smile: "Good boy, you actually beat me! Hey, what on earth was that last move of yours?"
As he said that, Cu Chulainn put his hand on Kevin's shoulder, moved closer and said excitedly: "That move is really cool, how about teaching me?!"
Hearing this, Kevin couldn't help but shook his head with amusement. You know, a few days ago, in the Colosseum, if he was not careful, he almost got killed!
What a nerve!
"Why, you don't want to teach me?"
However, he also knew that this was Cu Chulainn's character. After Cu Chulainn was dissatisfied, he replied dumbly: "It's not that I don't want to teach you, but I have only learned a little bit myself, and I haven't even graduated yet... and you don't need me to teach you."
After saying this, Kevin stopped explaining. Although Cu Chulainn wanted to ask for clarification, seeing that Kevin didn't say anything, he had to give up.
Compared to this, what Cu Chulainn actually wanted to know more was where Kevin had been for the past five years and who taught him martial arts.
These questions were actually asked on the night of their first meeting, but Kevin said he had no answer.
Before leaving, Scathach specifically told him not to tell Cu Chulainn about anything for the time being.
"Kevin, how many warrior trials have you completed?" Cu Chulainn asked casually on the way.
"That's seven items, right? We'll be done after we finish three more."
As they were talking, the two of them came to a tavern. As soon as they walked in, they attracted a lot of attention. After all, they were both celebrities in the Kingdom of Altes now!
"Then let me congratulate you, Kevin, for joining the Knights of the Red Branch!" After the wine was served, Cu Chulainn said and drank the wine directly from the barrel!
"Ha...refreshing!" After finishing the drink, Cu Chulainn said happily, "That old man, he has refused to let me drink these past few days. Brother, you are the real deal!"
Kevin smiled and greeted the proprietress who brought the drinks, then looked at him speechlessly: "Drink less."
As he said this, he poured himself a portion, raised it in salute to Cu Chulainn, and drank it in one gulp.
"You won't leave after you come back this time, right?" asked Cu Chulainn.
"If there is nothing special, it probably won't happen."
"Really?" Hearing this, Cu Chulainn's smile became even brighter: "That's great. This way, we two brothers can finally fight side by side!"
It would be impossible for Cu Chulainn to say that he didn't care about the martial arts that Kevin had learned, but he was simply happy for him.
"Yes, it took many years to finally get to this point." Looking at Cu Chulainn in front of him, Kevin, who realized that he no longer had to look up to him, couldn't help but feel a little emotional.
"Kevin, you've been out for so long, have you found a woman you like?"
"Why do you suddenly think of asking this?"
"Haha." Cu Chulainn turned his head and said, "Well, I'm going to propose marriage to you after you join the Knights of the Red Branch."
Kevin found it quite interesting to see Cuchulainn sounding a little shy while talking about this, but he did not tease him about it and just shook his head.
"I still have things to do, so I'm not in the mood for this for now."
"What's going on?" Cu Chulainn asked curiously. "What's going on? Can I help?"
Well...to be precise, you can really help, even though you might be doing more harm than good!
Kevin thought to himself, drank his wine and turned his head away without responding.
What else could it be?
Scathach is still waiting for him in the Shadow Kingdom for the next stage of training!
He is now halfway through his apprenticeship, and Scathach has no intention of letting him go!
Thinking of this, Kevin couldn't help but increase his drinking frequency by several points.
"Ah, yes, yes."
Just as the puzzled Cu Chulainn was about to continue asking questions, Connor came over, sat down and said, "You two guys are the same, you didn't even invite me to your party!"
"It's just because I didn't see you. By the way, the next trial is coming?" During this period, Kevin's trials were all managed by Connor.
"Yes." Connor nodded to Kevin. "It seems that a gang of thieves has appeared outside the village on the border of the western kingdom. This trial is for you to wipe them out."
After saying that, Connor hesitated for a moment: "Kevin, do you need to arrange for a few people to go with you? It's not that I don't believe in your ability, but..."
They knew that Kevin didn't like killing people.
"No need." Kevin shook his head. "After all, this is my trial. It would be bad for my reputation if it got out. Although I don't care, it would bring trouble to joining the Red Branch Knights."
In the battle at the Colosseum that day, Kevin had already proved his bravery. The reason why he continued to take the warrior trial was simply to increase his reputation.
To join the Knights of the Red Branch required more than just bravery, not to mention that he was allowed in at the age of fifteen, which was an exception.
After hearing what Kevin said, Connor said nothing more.
After the three of them drank heavily, Kevin did not stay for long. He rode out of the city with the map, while Connor and Cu Chulainn returned to the Knights of the Red Branch.
"The border of the kingdom...it seems like it will take two days to get there." Kevin put the map away and faced the afternoon breeze, his black ponytail swaying slightly.
"Come to think of it, this is the longest journey I've taken since I came to this world, right?"
Sitting on the handsome horse, Kevin looked up at the clear blue sky, was in a trance for a moment, then shook his head and smiled.
"I don't know how those archaeologists will evaluate me in the future. Hmm... it would be great if I could be more famous than Cu Chulainn, the Son of Light. After all, I don't want to be outshined by him, haha!"
Three days later, Kevin spent one night to pacify the gang of twenty or so thieves.
And with Kevin's active performance in recent days, he, who had been mediocre, has gradually begun to be praised by bards and known by the people of the continent of Erin.
And this is just the beginning.
