Part 9: An Unexpected Reunion
With the rumors behind them, YN and Leonor decided to focus on their upcoming trip to the countryside. They chose a quaint villa nestled in the rolling hills of Spain, where they could escape the royal spotlight.
As they arrived at the villa, YN felt an immediate sense of peace. The lush green landscape stretched out before them, dotted with blooming wildflowers. It was a welcome contrast to the chaos of palace life.
“This is beautiful, Leonor,” YN said, taking in the scenery. “I can’t believe we get to spend a few days here.”
Leonor grinned, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “I wanted to show you my favorite place. Let’s explore!”
They spent the next few days hiking through the hills, visiting local markets, and savoring homemade meals at nearby restaurants. With each passing moment, they grew closer, laughing and sharing stories as they reveled in their newfound freedom.
One evening, as they strolled through a sunflower field, YN noticed something unusual in the distance. “Is that a gathering?” she asked, squinting to see better.
As they approached, they discovered a small festival in the village, complete with music, dancing, and colorful decorations. The locals welcomed them warmly, treating them like old friends rather than royals.
“I can’t believe we stumbled upon this,” YN said, her face lighting up. “Can we join in?”
“Of course!” Leonor replied, her enthusiasm infectious. They danced and laughed with the villagers, enjoying the simple joy of being ordinary for a night.
Just as they were about to leave the festival, YN spotted a familiar face in the crowd. “Is that…?” she gasped, recognizing her old friend, Emma, from her school days.
Emma’s eyes widened as she saw YN. “YN! Is that really you?” She rushed over, pulling YN into a tight hug. “I can’t believe you’re here!”
YN felt a wave of nostalgia wash over her. “I can’t believe it either! How have you been?”
They quickly fell into conversation, catching up on their lives since YN had entered the royal family. Emma was now working as a teacher in a nearby town, passionately advocating for education in rural areas.
“This is amazing,” YN said, genuinely thrilled. “You’re doing such important work.”
As they chatted, Leonor observed from a distance, her heart swelling with happiness for YN. She could see how much this reunion meant to her partner.
After a while, YN turned to Leonor, who was still standing nearby. “Leonor, come meet my friend Emma!”
As they introduced Emma to Leonor, the three women quickly found common ground. Emma was fascinated by their scholarship program and offered to help promote it in her community.
“This is incredible! We could work together to raise awareness,” Emma suggested, her enthusiasm contagious.
The three of them spent the rest of the evening brainstorming ideas, fueled by excitement and passion for their shared mission. For the first time in a long while, YN felt a sense of normalcy wash over her, and she cherished the bond that was forming between them.
