Part 11: A Test of Loyalty

As YN and Leonor settled into their roles as dedicated advocates for education, they began to attract attention not just for their charitable work but also for their growing popularity as a couple. However, with fame came challenges that tested their bond.

One afternoon, while reviewing proposals for their next scholarship initiative, YN received an urgent message from her mother, Catherine. “We need to talk. It’s important,” the text read. Concerned, YN arranged to meet her at the palace.

When YN arrived, she found Catherine pacing in her private study, her expression grave. “YN, there are rumors circulating again—this time, they’re about you and Leonor. They claim your relationship is a mere publicity stunt.”

“What?” YN’s heart raced. “But that’s not true! We’ve worked so hard to show the world how committed we are.”

Catherine nodded, her brow furrowed. “I know, but there are whispers in royal circles that are starting to gain traction. Some people think you should be focusing on your duties as a future queen rather than this… romance.”

“What do they want me to do?” YN asked, frustration bubbling inside her. “Deny my feelings for Leonor? They don’t understand how serious we are about our work.”

“They want you to appear more… traditional,” Catherine replied. “Some believe a royal shouldn’t be involved in an arranged marriage that looks like a fairytale. They worry about the implications for the monarchy.”

“That’s ridiculous!” YN exclaimed. “We’ve proven that our partnership can bring real change. We can’t let other people dictate our lives!”

Catherine sighed, recognizing her daughter’s determination. “I’m not saying I agree with them, but you need to be aware of the pressures you both face. Be careful about how you navigate this. The royal family’s reputation is at stake.”

With her mother’s words echoing in her mind, YN felt a surge of anxiety. She decided to discuss the situation with Leonor that evening. As they relaxed in their suite, YN broached the topic.

“Leonor, I had a meeting with my mother today, and she brought up some rumors about us,” YN said, watching Leonor’s reaction closely.

“What rumors?” Leonor asked, her expression turning serious.

“People are saying our relationship is just for show, and that I should focus on my duties instead of our work together,” YN replied, her voice tinged with frustration.

Leonor frowned, crossing her arms. “That’s absurd! We’ve put so much effort into this, and we’ve shown that we’re committed to each other and to our cause.”

“I know,” YN said, sighing deeply. “But the pressure is real, and I don’t want it to come between us. My mother is worried about the monarchy’s reputation, and I get that, but this is my life. Our life.”

Leonor reached for YN’s hand, squeezing it gently. “We can’t let anyone dictate our relationship. We’ve already proven that we’re a strong team. Let’s continue to show the world our dedication through our actions, not just our words.”

“But what if it gets worse?” YN asked, biting her lip. “What if they try to separate us?”

“I won’t let that happen,” Leonor vowed, determination in her eyes. “We are in this together. If we stand united, they can’t break us.”

YN nodded, feeling reassured by Leonor’s strength. Together, they decided to organize an event to celebrate their partnership and showcase their commitment to education. They envisioned a summit that would bring together young leaders from various fields, encouraging collaboration and innovation.
