As I walked through the forest, I couldn't help but wonder why my parents hadn't told me of the arranged marriage I was being sucked into. After all, I was only seventeen, and had come to the conclusion that my love life should not be controlled by my parents. The problem wasn't however, that I already loved someone, but the thought that I would never have a choice in the person would spend the rest of my life with. I pondered over the possibilities of running away, confronting my parents, and so on, as I walked over the dirt of the forest floor.

It was spring, and although it was chilly outside, the sun was shining brightly, casting pools of cool shadows under the blossoming trees. My dark hair was swept aside by a sudden gust of wind, and I pulled the collar of my jacket up, covering my neck and ears from the cold air.

Shadows tugged at the edges of my vision, begging for my attention. But I walked on, oblivious to the figure stalking me. Eventually, as I came upon a small river, I noticed the slight change of atmosphere, as the birds stopped chirping and the forest became eerily silent.
