Noah squinted at the sun streaming through her apartment window, her head throbbing as if a tiny drummer had taken up residence inside her skull. She groaned, rolling over to check her phone, hoping to see a text from Cal.

"Fuck," she muttered, tossing the phone aside and flopping back onto her pillow. She felt bad, but they had known each other for a week. They had never even met face to face. Noah really hoped that they could iron this out and be friends.

Her phone buzzed again, this time with a message from Leo.

leo:
you alive?
pls tell me you didn't ditch me today

Noah groaned, sitting up and ruffling her already messy hair. The interview. Right. She had almost forgotten in her half-asleep, half-Calum-stress stupor.

noah:
i'm alive, barely
omw in 20

leo:
thank god
can you stop and get me a latte?

noah:
sure do you want me to wipe your ass while I'm at it?

leo:
okay miss attitude, I can get it myself. I'll see you soon :)

Noah tossed her phone onto the bed, leaped up, and scrambled to get ready. She had exactly 20 minutes to make herself look like a person who had slept more than four hours and wasn't internally screaming about how to deal with Calum. Easy. Totally easy.

As she grabbed her bag and ran out the door, she sent Calum a quick text:

noah:
hey
hope you're feeling alright
we're cool right?

She pocketed the phone without waiting for a response. She didn't have time to dissect whatever this situation was. She had an interview to nail and needed to focus.

Leo was already sitting in the lobby when Noah arrived, sunglasses on and two iced lattes in hand, looking annoyingly put together for someone who was probably just as hungover as she was. He raised an eyebrow when he saw her.

"Rough night?" he asked, barely concealing his smirk, handing Noah a latte.

"You have no idea," Noah muttered, plopping down next to him. "Men, I tell ya"

Leo snorted. "We're not all bad."

"All straight men, I mean" Noah joked.

Leo laughed, taking a sip of his coffee. "So who's the asshole?"

Noah hesitated, wondering if she should tell him about Calum. Leo had become one of her closest friends though. "You ever heard of the band 5 Seconds of Summer?"

"Do you know who you're talking to?" Leo said with a grin, leaning back in his chair. "Please tell me you're secretly dating Luke Hemmings."

"More like Calum Hood" Noah admitted, chuckling a little. "And not dating, talking for like a week."

Leo's eyes widened. "Okay, so I'm going to need you to tell me all about that sexy sexy man later. I think we have to go in." He reminded. "And remember, you're the smart one, and I'm the funny hot one, stay in you're lane."

Noah chuckled, feeling better already. "Yeah, whatever,"

"Love you baby" Leo cooed, squeezing Noah's cheeks. The interviewer appeared in the lobby along with Noah's manager to lead them in. As they were walking into the studio, Noah's phone vibrated.

cal:
oh my god, I just read the texts from last night. I'm an idiot.
