Two months.

For Cosmo, it was two months of being lied to.

Though for Sprout, it was two months of being a neglectful liar!

Of course it had to turn out like this...
They just seemed "too" perfect for each other.

Cosmo tapped the counter impatiently, gazing off at the ingredients ready to be baked into something delicious on the table. Sprout should've been here by now..
Maybe he had forgotten? He never forgets to spend time with Cosmo. That's, way too out of character! Cosmo sighed, hopping off the stool and dusting off his apron. Maybe they should just call it off, there was always tomorrow! Reaching for his phone to send Sprout a quick text.

—C: "Hii!! I know we were supposed to bake together today but maybe we should do it tomorrow. I've kinda gotten tired of waiting, sorry :C"

His fingers lingered on the send button, being a bit unsure. But before he had a chance, he jumped a bit at the sound of the kitchen door swinging open!
It was Sprout of course. But something was wrong. His appearance was almost always so put together! Cosmo knew this from being friends with him for years but he looked...rather disheveled? His scarf higher than usual and his face looked flushed. Though Cosmo tried to ignore it!

"Oh!! There you are, I was worried you wouldn't come!"
Cosmo smiled softly, brushing off any concerns and putting his phone in his pocket. Walking over to give him a quick hug

"Ah, yes.. I just- ran into some issues on the way! Sorry such the inconvenience Cos. I shouldn't have made you wait so long :("
Sprout sighed, seeming a little out of breath. He had felt a little bad for the deception and tried to ignore his early "activity" with Astro. Giving Cosmo a small pat on the head. Squeezing him a little before pulling away

"It's alright! I don't mind. Though, I was actually planning on going to bed..kinda got sleepy while waiting..BUT! We could always bake tomorrow, I have the ingredients laid out :D"

"Oh! Of course. I'd love to, I'll make sure I won't be late this time or in the near future^^"
Sprout made a mental note to tell Astro he won't be available tomorrow. He didn't want Cosmo to get suspicious...

"Alright alright! I'll just put my apron away.."
Sprout nodded, gazing down at the ground a little nervously as Cosmo gave him a little kiss on the cheek before hanging his apron up.
As he hung it up, Cosmo decided to ask. Just to get rid of some confusion..and worry.

"Hey Sprout..can I ask ya something?"
His tone shifted to a bit more of a concerned one.

"Hmm, yes?"
Sprout got a little quieter. Growing nervousness in his stomach! Praying he wouldn't ask any questions about his whereabouts

And thankfully for Sprout, he didn't.

"Are you okay?? I mean, you look a little disheveled and you seem a bit distressed! I just wanna make sure your okay—!"
Cosmo said over his shoulder but Sprout quickly interrupted his worries.

"No no dear!! I'm alright. No need to worry!"
Sprout gave a quick forced and fake smile
He felt bad for lying, and despite this new found devotion for Astro. He felt like was wasn't ready to loose Cosmo.... Yet.
"Your sure? You can tell me anything you know!'
He approached him, grabbing both of his arms and gazing up at him.

"Of course I am! I'm always okay when I'm near you...
Sprout wrapped his arms around Cosmo and leaning down to kiss his forehead. He was a little proud of himself, he thought was very convincing! And for Cosmo he was...

Cosmo's face flushed a bit as he gave a small unsure smile.
"Alright..if you say so!"

"Now now, get to bed! We'll get back to baking tomorrow. Promise :D"
Sprout let go and gently gestured him for to exit

"Okay okay! Have a good rest dear.."
Cosmo took a moment to stare at Sprout in admiration, before quickly exciting to go rest.

Sprout sighed in relief, frowning a bit. He didn't enjoy lying that much.. but had been going on for 2 months, perhaps he to far in to back out. He exited the kitchen as well to go to his own room.

His and Astros secret was safe...for now.
