Chapter 104: The Power of Example
Arnold was quite satisfied with the soldiers' rigorous training.
While guiding their training, he also carefully monitored their physical condition.
This was not only to ensure the quality of their training but also to prevent overexertion.
Walking back and forth, Arnold felt full of energy, and he was generous with his praise for all the hardworking soldiers.
However, when he saw the 14th soldier collapse from exhaustion, a flicker of concern crossed his eyes.
Arnold ordered the soldiers whose bodies could no longer endure to rest, and as he looked into their hopeful eyes, he sternly forbade them from continuing.
After hesitating for a moment, Arnold seemed to make a firm decision and walked toward Matthew, who stood at the front of the training camp.
"My lord, just training like this won't work."
"The intensity is too high, and their bodies can't take it."
"If we keep this up, the soldiers will collapse and start coughing up blood..."
Looking at Matthew's calm expression, Arnold grew slightly anxious. Scratching his head, he helplessly explained:
"It's like those pioneers; if they only eat bread, their bodies won't last. They need to eat meat to keep going..."
Matthew didn't interrupt Arnold. Instead, he nodded in agreement, impressed with Arnold's knowledge as a true training instructor.
"As expected, even without formal education in this area, smart people can still derive practical insights."
"Perhaps, if Arnold had the gift for spellcasting, he could have become an exceptional bloodline-focused arcane mage."
Seeing the hesitation on Arnold's face, Matthew knew he wouldn't bring this up without reason. Smiling, he asked:
"What do you need me to do?"
Once you have the initiative, some things become much easier.
Facing Matthew's deep, dark eyes, Arnold found it hard to understand his young lord. Still, he swallowed his concerns and said boldly:
"We need to provide these soldiers with magical plant extracts or the flesh of magical creatures..."
"The latter is too expensive, but the former is more affordable."
Matthew looked deeply at Arnold. Noticing Arnold's slight unease, he turned to Ralph and said:
"Meet all of Arnold's requests as best as you can."
"If anything is missing, come directly to me."
After finishing, Matthew saw the delighted expression on Arnold's face and added:
"Additionally, based on the cost savings from the equivalent effect of magical creature flesh, deducting the base cost, 10% of the savings will be rewarded to Arnold."
"Permanent production, permanently effective."
Before Arnold could respond, Matthew continued to address his shocked expression:
"Thank you, Arnold, for solving this problem for us. This is a reward for anyone who contributes, and it applies to everyone!"
Arnold understood Matthew's intent and nodded in a daze, his mind filled with racing thoughts.
"If I refuse or reduce the benefits, others might blame me, and the lord wouldn't be happy either..."
"If it's not too much money, I should be able to accept it without guilt. If it's too much, I can find a way to deal with it later."
