The sea breeze carried the scent of salt and distant cherry blossoms as Sanji stood near the railing of the supply ship bound for Wano. His sharp blue eyes were fixed on the colossal elevator that stretched toward the sky, leading to the land nestled high above the clouds.
Wano
It had been a week since he'd left the Thousand Sunny behind, and now, standing here at the gateway to a new chapter, the reality of his choice settled heavily on his shoulders.
As the ship drew closer to the shore, a burst of radiant light flooded the horizon. Sanji squinted, shielding his eyes with his hand, as the brilliance of Wano's land came into view.
The towering mountains, the cascading waterfalls, and the gentle pink hue of sakura petals floating on the air—it was breathtaking. This place had changed since his last visit, and yet, it still felt familiar. After everything, he was finally here.
The ship docked with a gentle thud against the pier. Around him, the crew of the supply ship sprang into action, unloading goods and crates with practiced efficiency.
Sanji sighed quietly, adjusting the strap of his travel bag over his shoulder. Before stepping off the ship, his gaze drifted downward to the strange sword at his side—the weapon he had discovered a week ago, the one that seemed to call to him in ways he couldn't yet explain.
Its dark, curved hilt poked out slightly from beneath his coat, as if taunting him. He gave it one last weary glance, exhaling softly before securing it at his hip.
There was no point in dwelling on it. The sword was with him now, whether he liked it or not. With his bag slung over his shoulder and the sword hanging by his waist, Sanji stepped onto the wooden dock and began making his way toward the heart of Wano.
His movements were casual, but his senses were sharp—he couldn't afford to be noticed. He had already changed his clothes to blend in, opting for a simple yet elegant kimono in dark blue and black, its loose fabric allowing him to move freely.
Having been here before, he knew the customs, the streets, and most importantly, how to stay out of sight.
Sanji tugged his hood slightly forward, and the long, unruly blond hair that now framed his face helped conceal his features further.
His once-sleek hair had grown wild and wavy over the past few weeks, curling just enough to obscure his face from prying eyes. It was perfect—he couldn't let anyone who knew him recognize him.
If Momonosuke, Yamato, or any of the other friends he'd made here saw him, it would only complicate things. He didn't need their questions, their pity, or their concern. Not now. Not until he figured things out for himself.
He slipped through the streets of the capital with ease, blending into the crowd. Wano had changed, but the heart of it remained the same—lively and beautiful, full of the warmth and pride of its people.
He passed street vendors selling skewers of grilled meat, children laughing as they played by the riverbanks, and shopkeepers shouting friendly greetings to passersby. It was clear that Momonosuke, Yamato, and the others had worked hard to restore the harmony of Wano.
There were no longer divisions between the rich and poor; everyone lived together as equals, sharing in the prosperity of the new era.
Sanji smiled faintly as he took it all in. They had done well. In such a short time, Wano had found peace.
After walking for a while, his stomach gave a familiar growl. He chuckled to himself, grateful that some things never changed. Spotting a small food stall, he picked up a few rice balls and skewers on his way through the market, enjoying the simplicity of the meal.
