CH.1 RJ

It was May 7th of the year 2000, and Renjun found himself staring at the wall.

It was one of those nights when he sat down on his chair and contemplated his decisions in life.

He was graduating in a few weeks, and he sent an application form to an Ivy League school in New York. All he needed was to submit his entrance essay and hope for the best.

Renjun was pretty proud of his resumè. It was filled with awards, achievements, and even some of his hard-hitting poetry were attached.

Surely, they'll be impressed? Or maybe he was just overestimating himself?

Renjun groaned, he stopped overthinking and went back to composing his essay instead.

He kept tapping his pen at his desk, hoping it sparks an idea. But he was experiencing a writer's block, at the wrong time.

His mind drifted to his friends. Donghyuck and Chenle.

He envied Donghyuck because he was free-spirited, he was just heading to wherever the wind takes him. Sometimes, he's interested in dancing, then singing and even acting. He had the courage Renjun lacked.

Chenle, on the other hand, was lucky because he was still a junior. He had ample time to figure out what he wanted to do.

Renjun was cut off from his train of thoughts when he stared at the wall clock in his room.

"I only have five hours of sleep left." He reminded himself.

"This is stupid." He frustratedly slammed the pen, "It's just making me lose hope."

The boy yawned and decided to give up.

He stood up from his swivel chair and turned off his night light. He sluggishly plopped himself on his bed, snuggling under the warm covers.

Renjun's exhausted mind wandered into dreamland almost immediately, forgetting to set an alarm for seven in the morning for his club's meeting.

Rays of sunlight seeped into his room, waking Renjun up. He furrowed his brows and looked at the clock on his bedside table.

"Ten minutes past seven..." He mumbled, it was still too early for him to get up. School starts at eight anyways.
