Rheynara's pov

I watch as a terrified Violet disappears behind the safe walls of the tower, and I still don't know how she got here. There are only two candidates in front of me, one arrogant idiot who thinks he can do anything, and terrified of the first one, a slim and tall boy.

I sigh heavily.

"Be careful," before I take another step towards the bridge, I hear Xaden's whisper. My eyes soften for this moment.

"See you later."

I give my name again and wait for the tall boy in front of me to be at the right distance for me to start.
I caught Xaden's last look and stepped onto the parapet. It is not the first time that I will walk through something so dangerous, which, contrary to appearances, is not comforting at all. I walk slowly ahead, but my steps are sure. The stone under my feet is slippery from the rain, but this is not an obstacle when you have the right shoes and skills.
My eyes, however, are focused on the scene in front of me. A man named Jack Barlow – if I heard correctly – turned to the boy in front of me, then grabbed him by the straps of his backpack and... He threw him off the bridge as if he were just a sack of grain! There is a scream, which quickly dies down when the boy disappears from sight. Damn me, what asshole.

"You're next, Sorrengail!" I heard him call out to Violet- who was still turned towards us- and then he moved towards her, closing the distance between them at an alarming speed.

I immediately quicken my pace.

"Move, Sorrengail!" I call out to her. She immediately turns around and starts walking. Even from here, I can see that she is shaking all over.
I watch as another gust of wind hits her, and she loses her balance and falls with her knees on the stones. Damn. Her left leg hangs loosely from the bridge, and Jack is already right behind her.

I run forward.

I'm not going to tell Bren how his youngest sister died before my eyes. In the meantime, Violet gets up on her wobbly legs and begins to walk again.

"I'm coming for you, Sorrengail!" sounds in front of me. Violet is almost at the end, but this asshole is moving much faster than she does. "Are you going to scream all the way down?" he sneers, but I'm already behind him.

"Are you?" Jack turns to me, losing that smirk of his, as my elbow hits him right in the nose with a loud crunch. The boy falls on the stones, but I don't wait to see if he falls or not. I jump over him and continue rushing forward. Violet stares at me with wide eyes. I'm not sure if I see shock or horror in them, or maybe both.

"Move for fuck sake!" I call out to her again, and she finally moves. I quickly look behind me and I am sorry to say that Mr.asshole did not fall and continues on his way, this time a little slower and with his nose dripping with blood.

In a few steps, I'm behind Violet and finally slow down to give her some space. "Please don't kill me, or at least do it quickly," I hear her voice suddenly and I can't believe my ears. What the hell?!
