The climate in the Western Kingdom between the Copper Heights and the capital Vindisburg varies according to geographical location and altitude. The Copper Heights are an alpine mountain massif, while Vindisburg lies on the coast at sea level. Here is a rough description of the climate in the individual geographical units:

The Copper Heights are one of the largest and highest mountain ranges on the continent and run through the northern Western Empire. The lower altitudes have a temperate climate, while the higher regions have an alpine and sometimes arctic climate. The amount of precipitation also varies greatly. Winters are often very cold with plenty of snowfall. At this time of year, temperatures often fall below freezing and the snow cover reaches considerable heights.

The Campus Padanus, an extensive lowland plain, stretches between the Copper Heights and Vindisburg. The climate in winter is cold and foggy, with average temperatures in January around freezing point. Summers are hot and humid. Rainfall is distributed relatively evenly throughout the year. Fog often hangs over the lower-lying areas in particular.

In the lagoon city of Vindisburg and along the Adriatic coast, the winter climate is comparatively mild. Temperatures are above freezing, although it can be chilly and damp. Occasional rain showers are possible and flooding can occur, especially in the low-lying parts around Vindisburg.

The hilly region of the Apennines is located south-east of the Copper Heights and is characterized by a temperate climate with warm summers and mild winters. Rainfall is highest in spring and fall, while summers can be relatively dry. Frost is rare, but light snowfall can occur at higher altitudes.

The western peninsula stretches far out to sea and has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The coastal regions are somewhat cooler due to winds from the sea. In the coastal areas, frost is extremely rare in winter, while the interior can experience cooler temperatures with light snowfall.

The climate of the western provinces of Dalmatia, Galicia and Hispania is dealt with in separate chapters.
