The House of Hwitwulf, also known as the Godasten dynasty, refers to the family, traditionnally founded by Goda Hwitwulf of the germanic tribe of Emor, that has been ruling Flumenterra from the first Saxon settlements in England in the 5th century.
After centuries of complete independence, Edward the Just, Lord of the Flumenterrans pledged allegiance to Alfred the Great of Wessex at the beginning of the Viking conquest, in hopes of uniting the kingdoms.
Cwenthryth, Lady of the Flumenterrans, originally Cwenthryth of Durham, a Northumbrian noble woman, was the wife of Edward the Just, bearing him two children. She was described to be a cold, distant woman, that kept her distance from the people, but her husband, who is said to have loved her very much, more than made up for her reserved nature. He was a warm an inviting man, loved by all. He nejoyed balls and festivites, often mingling with the common people outside of the castle walls during celebrations.
Their two children, Lady Eawynn and Lord Edward were both celebrated by the Flumenterran, and the siblings were often seen with their father, roaming the streets of Wolfwater, and going on tours all around the kingdom to visit the countryside. Sister and brother were inseparable, and even though Edward was the one destined to rule after his father, Eawynn attended the same lessons and trainings as him. They were both described as bright and intelligent, invested in learrning, reading, music and horse riding.
The only activity Edward never did with his older sister by his side was hunting, since Eawynn much preferred to practice sword fighting and shooting arrows at archery targets. The girl always worried about her brother and father when they were out hunting with their entourage, and it seemed she had been right do so.
A thousand responsibilities downed upon her when her brother was brought back from a huntng trip with his guts hanging from his body, and blood covering every inch of his skin and clothes.
A wolf had killed Edward, and in return, Edward had killed the wolf.
