Sebastian Caruso.
We walked until it felt like my feet would fall off, we had walked practically all night and well into the day. It now seemed like afternoon, peek of the heat, which was terrible for us.
"CeCe!! Can we please take a break?" I asked, I didn't wait for an answer as I plopped down on the ground.
"I guess nothing I say will influence your decision, will it?" She wake amused, she sat down next to me when we began to hear noises.
These noises were music to our ears, it sounded like the heavens had opened up. Trains.
Both of our heads snapped towards the sudden sound and we saw what we had blindly walked too, a train station.
"Get up! Quickly! We need to go!" CeCe yelled as she pulled me up and we both began to run.
It took a moment but we made it to the small remote train station.
"Hello!" I exclaimed as I ran to the counter, out of breath.
"Hello, what can I do for you today?" A woman behind the counter asked in a uniform.
"Where is this train heading?" I asked curiously, wherever it was headed, we were going.
"Novara Italy. It's a 6 hour train ride." The woman stated.
"We'll take that! How much for tickets?" I asked enthusiastically.
"€46.30 for one ticket, €92.60 for two. How do you two intend to pay?" The woman asked, looking between the two of us.
"Perfect, CeCe where's the money?" I asked quietly turning the face my twin, she pulled the money out and handed it to me.
"Is this yours?" The woman asked, looking at the cash I just handed her.
"Why wouldn't it be?" I asked curiously, pretending to be dumb. She bought my little facade and just shrugged, placing the money in a box.
"Here you go, the train leaves at 12:20 P.M." The woman stated as she handed us the tickets.
"What time is it now?" I asked as I took the tickets and handed them to CeCe, she was better at keeping track of those.
"It's 11:50 A.M." The woman said again as she checked her watch.
"Thank you!" I exclaimed as CeCe and I turned to sit on one of the benches.
"We did it!" I happily cheered as we high fived, smiling ear to ear.
"We did!" She cried out, she was so happy, joy clear in her eyes.
We waited in comfortable silence, I noticed CeCe getting sleepy, I was about to tell her to go to sleep but the train was ready to board.
We settled into a small booth, I immediately took notice of Cecilia's tired movements.
"CeCe, you stayed up last night, you need sleep! Please go to sleep!" I asked her, she nodded and basically dropped dead.
With Cecilia catching up on the lost sleep, there wasn't much to do. Left in my own thoughts, I could clearly try and remember what my dream was about, analysis it all.
An old woman came through with a trolley asking if we wanted anything, I did but knew better than spending our money on a pack of pretzels.
She did give me free cold water that I gulped down, leaving half for Cecilia when she'd wake up.
I was all alone, staring out the window, it was a mountainous view. Different shades of beautiful green, the cloudy sky. It was grey and no longer sunny.
A couple raindrops hit my window as I sighed peacefully, it was a miracle that CeCe got out of that house alive.
Gun shots, yelling, the woman grabbing her ankle, I was terrified for my twin sister. I can't imagine how fearful she must've felt.
Hours passed, Cecilia sleeping through it all. I was happy she was finally catching up on much needed sleep.
I took a quick nap as well, it was only about a half an hour but when I woke up, Cecilia was eyeing that water.
"Go ahead, drink it. It's ice cold, or it was when I got it." I smiled at her, she smiled and took the water, gulping down the rest of it.
"That's good!" She smiled and I returned the smile.
We spent the last hour of the train ride talking, we had a lot to decide.
We were in a new place, a new environment. We knew not a single person, except each other.
"There has to be a place that offers jobs, we can pretend to be fifteen again or something." I pondered.
"The problem is where, we might not be as experienced." CeCe finished off my sentence.
"We might look different than the others. I mean, we don't look Italian." I sighed quietly.
We got all of our genes from our mother, an Austrian who was not Italian.
We knew our mom had gone to Italy quite a few times, when we asked she just changed the conversation.
"Hey Mommy?" I asked my mom looking up with wide eyes.
"Yes Darling?" My mom replied, putting down her book and turning to face me.
"You said you've been to Italy, right?" I asked her, curiosity building in my chest.
"Yes, a few times actually, once I even lived there." She smiled back at the memories.
"Why did you go there? Why did you live there?" I asked her another question.
"Business." My mom's face had fallen and she began to tidy herself up.
"Mommy, your nose shivers when you lie. Why are you lying?" I asked, curious as to why she was lying.
"Sebastian. It's not important, I have work to do, go play with your sister." My mom coldly snapped as she walked off.
Why was she so defensive about this subject?
Did it have anything to do with the weird note?
The train had stopped and the few passengers began to exit, Cecilia and I walked off, hand in hand.
CeCe began to cough from the smoke, her asthma was kicking up.
Quickly I guided her away from the train, looking at all the people swarming the train to either board or find their loved ones.
"Sit up straight," I commanded CeCe as I pushed her onto a bench, away from all the people.
"Ready I want you to breathe in for four, hold, out for four, extra breath." I gently held her hand as we worked through the exercises.
"Thanks Sebas." She looked at me with sincerity as she caught her breath.
"No need, I'm your brother, that's what I'm here for." I told her as I sat on the bench with her.
"What should we do?" I asked her curiously.
"I'm not sure. We could explore or something." She told me smiling.
That's what we did, explore this new environment, it was beautiful.
Then something caught my eye, I had immediately gasped and stopped moving.
