Sebastian Caruso.

I watched as my twin sister fell asleep, burying her head into the pillow.

She was the best sister, and even if she was my only sister, I couldn't ask for a better one.

I only wished she allowed me to take responsibility for my actions. I often acted compulsively, leading me to do things that would result in punishments.

I know why she does it though, why she acts like a mother. It's purely because she never wants anyone else to feel the way she does, even if it means protecting me and causing more harm to herself.

We never had a mother or father, I mean obviously we do, but they weren't the kind of parents children need.

Cecilia took it upon herself very early on that she would give me everything our parents didn't.

That meant waking up to breakfast on my plate, lunch packed, dinner served, even if it wasn't much it was enough.

Marcel became more and more abusive towards us after mom left, he began to starve Cecilia claiming "she ate too much". He sometimes made us sleep outside, occasionally becoming physically abusive.

I never received the worst, Cecilia did. She did everything she could to protect herself and me, even if it meant getting hurt.

I never knew how to repay her, always trying to get her to stop owning up to MY actions. I helped as best as I could, offering her my food or my blanket if she was hungry or cold, she was declined though. Most of the time I'd have to stay up until she fell asleep to be able to cover her with my blankets.

I found myself staring out the window, the same way CeCe was when I found her earlier, lost in thought of how amazing my sister is.

"Sebastian...?" A little voice rang out, bringing me from my thoughts.

"Oh, hi Liam, is there anything you need?" I asked looking to the small five year old in the doorway.

"Mr. Thomas asked for you and Cecilia..." He whispered timidly reminding me of CeCe, he ran off just as fast as he came in.

"Thanks!" I yelled out to him, CeCe groaned and I quietly apologized.

Once CeCe was fully awake, we both began to walk down, not knowing what we were about to face.

"Ah, here they are now!" Mr. Thomas's cheery voice said, we could easily tell he was faking his attitude.

I met two pairs of eyes, one was light blue and the other emerald green.

The woman was boney and had thin straight blonde hair with light blue eyes, she was tall.

The man was slightly chubby and shorter than the woman, he had dark brown hair and emerald green eyes.

"Ah, not necessarily what we expected, but we'll take them anyway." The man laughed, his stomach jiggling with his sudden movement.

Not Necessarily What We Expected, But We'll Take Them Anyway.

It sounded weird, not something I expected a person who actually wanted us would say.

"Children, introduce yourselves." Mr. Thomas said, we could see right through his happy little façade.

I stepped up and cleared my throat, Cecilia was protective and caring towards me but she wouldn't introduce herself to strangers, she's always been shy and antisocial.

"My name is Sebastian Caruso, and this is my twin sister Cecilia Caruso." I said, putting up a cheery mask. Normally I would be naturally cheery and naturally happy but this was forced.
