4 BBY, Seelos

Jia sipped her meiloorun tea, listening to Noble ramble on about all her latest exploits and dealings with the Hidden Path, Clone Force 99, etc, etc- trips that frankly, would be impossible  to make without that big dog of hers, Dume taking her who knows where  every few months or so. Not that Jia had any problem with it... besides the fact that Dume had to sleep on the sand because he was too big to fit into the AT-TE where she, Noble, Rex, Wolffe, Gregor, Dean, and Slender spent the rest of their days after being decommissioned by the Empire. The poor guy should have some  form of shelter...

She took a piece of smoked joopa jerky from Gregor's last hunting expedition to feed Dume as Noble went on, "... Yeah, and the Inquisitors were all like, 'join us, and fulfill your destiny as heir to the Empire, blah blah, blah...'  and even tried to offer me the position of Grand Inquisitor, like... I made it crystal clear  to these bantha kriffers that I was NEVER  gonna join them or take part in their evil plans... goodness ME..."

"And here I thought they wanted to make General Madreth  an Inquisitor," Jia quipped before reaching for another piece of jerky. "Why else would they have taken her to Nur-?"

"For either that or to kill her, obviously," Wolffe piped in. "That traitor..."

"Hey, we're all against the Empire, aren't we-?" Gregor asked. "So who are ya calling a traitor, now?"

"Madreth has every right to resist the Empire, too," Slender agreed. "Just look what they're doing to the galaxy... to her family, too."

"Yeah..." Dean leaned back against his seat. "Almost makes me glad  that damn bill was passed. At least now, we won't have to be a part of whatever they're up to these days."

"Yeah, I guess that's the one  act of mercy that Admiral Ramp-arse ever-" Jia paused as the whooshing sound of another transport grew louder by the second, until whatever it was seemed to be hovering directly above them. "You guys hear that-?"

"Yeah, I hear it," Rex muttered, getting up. "I'll go check it out."

"I'll come with you," Gregor volunteered, going after him. Wolffe and Slender followed suit.

Jia watched them leave before heading the other way with the handful of joopa jerky. "Dume? Dumey boy! I've got food!"

An enthusiastic bark, and the Loth wolf popped his head around to receive his rations. Jia dropped them one by one into his waiting mouth as the shuttle could be heard landing.

"Huh..." She mused softly, craning her neck to be able to see better. "... Wonder who they could be."

"Oh, it's just a bunch of old geezers,"  One of the newcomers was heard groaning.

"Well  armed old geezers,"  Another quipped.

"What do you want?"  Rex demanded.

"We're looking for someone,"  A third spoke up.

"Well, that's too bad, 'cause there's nobody out here."

"Hey, uh... does the number 7567 mean anything to you-?"  At this, Jia perked up. That wasn't a number she heard every day, especially  not out here.

"What did you just say-?!"

"Uh... I said 7567-?"

"I haven't heard those digits in... well, that's my BIRTH NUMBER-"
